Yes, a very large THANK YOU is due to these selfless people, who not only maintain the Parrot Forums board, but also offer good solid advice to the many , many newcomers to being parrot owners. Some days that might be a dozen or more people seeking help on new parrots. I think we all try to offer some words of help and advice, but its the moderators and really long time members that typically answer all the new posts. And it can be a thankless job too, so many first time posters never show up again, one assumes because the advice worked and they are now 100% happy owners, with no further questions. The alternates to that are pretty disturbing, ie: the owner gave the parrot back, or it dies, or was set free or any other horrible end. I know some days I can't even get thru all the active posts without getting upset at some of the questions, which is 1 reason I tend to take breaks from the Board.

So thank you, moderators and long time members, it is folks like you that make this the best forum for parrots available. Thank you very much!

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
I do have to say a big thank you to everyone here and you too!

Before getting the Rio I spent what must have been months on here poking through threads, researching and just trying to learn as much as possible. I'm still learning and I do try and help in my own way (I'm working on my wordings and general manner) but I wouldn't know a single thing of what I do know without the long time posters here posting their ideas, findings, research and stories

hopefully I find a new friend in the future and will be able to share more stories with. I think I've shared almost every single day I had with Rio now!

I want to say more for everyone but I can only offer my thanks to everyone for putting up with me and helping me through a hard time

Al, thank you for this post! The long time members here have become family, and all the help given to people have enriched or saved so many parrots lives.
I would like to add my thanks to all the folks who tirelessly offer advice and support, you are all the reason why I think we have the best forum on the internet.

Agreed! The mod team here is ASTOUNDING. Nowhere else on the internet have I found such an amazing, kind, supportive, helpful atmosphere and I attribute that 100% to the moderators and the effort they put in!

Al, you say the sweetest things! THANK YOU! Did Salty put you up to this?

Our members, forum and family are the reason ParrotForums is the best of the best. This last year has been hectic for our mod team, sometimes when all four of us have to be away at the same time I sign into the forum feeling guilty and trying to catch up, often I find our amazing members have taken care of everything and then some. I think that's what keeps us all coming back again and again.

Thank you all for the kind words, it means a lot!

Thanks Al for this thread! ParrotForums is an incredible and supportive community. Deep appreciation for all those who contribute their time, knowledge, and enthusiasm. Senior and new members perform an important service by serving as catalyst for discussion. A thread that has run its course is available as archive to assist those in need.

We live in an age where folks are quick to critique, making all of your kind words so special!!

Is there another word for ditto? When I first met my now-spouse, I researched how to get along with his BFA (Best Friend Amazon) but didn't find this forum. I posted on a couple others, got mostly discouraging answers saying give it up, the parrot will never like you or accept you, and no helpful advice at all. I had to figure it out on my own. When we got Gus, I went looking again and found Parrotforums. What a difference! It's not just the information, which is valuable. It's the support and encouragement. It feels more like a family here, and not a dysfunction junction like the one I grew up in.

Wrench is right, the Mods are super! I don't know who's an old timer, but there is a core of active, kind, helpful, entertaining people who make this board a joy to visit. Thanks, guys.

Yeah that! Thanks so much. Without the guidance of mods n members here, I never could have kept Mister Duke and brought him back to good health and a good mental state. Any time I get discouraged or overwhelmed I come here and read, read, read.

Oh my god! A thank you is VERY much in order! I've had Sammy for about 4 weeks now and had it not been for this forum I would have given up by now. Everyone is so nice and I hope to give that back by doing my part on the forums.

Thank you all!

Salty, thank-you for encouraging your Dad to place this Thread! Well stated Good Friend and clearly something that needs to be said from time to time.

Those that have brought Amazons to my attention over the years know that we have an Amazon, but even knowing, they will call when they need help! A coupe of weeks ago was a very difficult period for me as seven Amazons from different sources needed extensive help. The combination of very young for the types of ailments was a frustration - heart problems and under ten! Anyway, whole point was that by visiting a couple of our Forum's great Threads, a bit of joy can always be found and enjoyed! Great Members, Great Threads, and a source for a much needed smile!

That and much more can and does occur as part of a Forum that has Inspirited Leadership that encourage unique Threads that provide a combination of knowledge mixed with Delightful Humor!

And quietly, behind the curtains our Moderators' provide encouragement, a needed kind word and timely recommendations! And as above, those words have gentle move and shaped Parrot Forums to the best source for those who want to care and love their Parrots.

As Mr. Wrench so well stated: THANK YOU!

Thanks again Salty and Al, I agree 100% with all the comments. I am relatively new to parronting so I check 3 or 4 times a week to read questions and comments constantly learning.
I sometimes find myself smiling when reading SailBoat's detailed and lengthy responses to people in need that seem to repeatedly ask the same questions over and over. He is a Saint !! Saint Sailboat... that's what we need to call him. He has the ability to endure daily questions without becoming annoyed or upset. Everyone is to be commended!

Al, thanks so much for making this thread. And thanks to all the rest of you who have posted such wonderful things. Great thing to see upon getting home from a rough day at work... as well as a powerful reminder of why I love this forum so much. The members here are simply beyond compare.

We on the Mod Team (and all of our experienced long timers) do what we do on this forum for two reasons. The first is the well being of the birds. And the second is simply because you guys and gals are so very worth it!

Thanks for the inspiration, Mr Wrench.
This site is my home away from home, truly.
Not only am I offered constant support in dealing with the avian Mephistopheles, but I get to "meet" and encourage new folks, and learn, all the time. There's a final benefit: my ol' man and I have fun snarking at each other here instead of arguing in reality about said Mephistopheles, who can have a great gift for fomenting fury between the two of us.
All hail, SMs, and all of us, old and new!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aaaah, thank-you! But, our performance at the Spring "Blessing of the Animals" (pets), once again had Julio and I falling far below the kindly offered status of Sainthood. :D I think the only reason we are allowed back each year is that once the word gets out that the guy with the parrot will be there, its standing room only at early Mass.
