SO When I buy dog food I always look at the first 2 Ingredients to make up my mind as to what food is best. If the first one is whole Chicken or Whole lamb or whatever meat we are off to a good start as long as chicken meal is not the first Ingredients.

I am shopping for parrot food. I always look at the first Ingredient. I am seeing everyone uses corn as the number one. I do not like that because corn is always used as a cheap filler. Parrots are not eating corn in the wild.

SO what do you look for. Even Harrisons "life time" has Corn as the first one. I do not remember Corn being the first Ingredient in EVERYTHING a year ago. I remember seeing White Millet as the main ingredient a year ago. Harrisons high potency has Ground Hulled White Millet as the number one. what is better?

I think pellets are JUNK if the first 2 things are corn. I need to just make my own parrot food now I guess.

I have two concerns with soybeans, number one has to do with stimulating estrogen production, number two is if it is a GMO soybean, that is really nasty!

I looked up Goldenfeast Goldn'obles. It is not cheap but I only have one parrot so I will spend the extra $$ on my little brat.

Fly free Plum, my gorgeous boy.
There are a lot of ingredients in there and noticed Bee Pollen which is not cheap on its own and also wheatberries, both are things I purchase separately. Unfortunately I cannot buy these pellets here in UK :-(

Check if you can freeze them for longer storage? Have you a birdy friend that you can share a pack with, split the cost? Soy beans and rice are the 2nd and 3rd on the list, mainly fillers IMO but still lots of good stuff in there, not sure why eggs are included?

Sorry to see you describe Sprinkles as a brat :-( Looks cheeky to me.

My JoJo and wife's Bongo would not touch these, I thought they tasted good!
For sure, store them in the freezer! Mine went rancid in a very short time!
Unfortunately, even the wild birds wouldn't eat them!

Salty and I are going to try these Golden'obles. He has been raised on Roudybush Maintenance, but he does eat a lot of them, and we wind up throwing most of his daily amount away. If Salty will like these better, who cares if they are more $$, like everyone else, I want to give our parrot the best food possible ( but he has to actualy eat it - no sense buying $$ food if he wont eat it).

I was reading they changed the formula and many birds are not liking it. I am going to give it a try and yes I will freeze what I do not need and keep the rest in the fridge. I can't wait to see what Sprinkles thinks of it.

I am happy to report Sprinkles loves his new food. I got him the Goldenfeast Goldn'obles II Medium. I mix the pellets with the Goldenfeast Central American Preservation Blend. He loves it. I am so happy.

As far as the best pellet, TOPs all the way. All my birds love it and it's by far the best quality. Organic, nothing artificial, good quality ingredients, it's really the best pellet out there.
