Does your bird demand stritches?

When I stop scratching Peanut's head she seems to get mad and shakes her head, actually complains and pushes at my fingers with her head down until I do it again. She would have me give her stritches all day long if she could. Not that I mind, it's just funny that she complains when I stop.

SOme parrots LOVE scratches, some HATE them and some want them only when they want them. My little BeeBee parrot Max, would shove his little head into my hand for a scratch, and would happily remain there all day. Salty likes his scratches, but I have to ask if he wants one.

I've read a few places that you should stop giving scratches before the parrot has had enough, leaving them wanting more. I rarely can do that with Salty, he can sit still for maybe 5 min before he is off and running again.

Bumble loves her skritches and will present her head to me. Sometimes she pushes her little cheek against my hand really hard [emoji846][emoji846]

Elvis loves head scritches, sometimes he even enjoys it when I pet his back (most parrots don't). Mean while the rest of my flock doesn't like head scritches. Elvis will scream at me if I stop giving him scritches.

She screams too if I stop. I'm going to train her to scratch my head instead, she does it once in a while and it feels good. She stands on my head and picks at my hair, probably looking for bugs :p.

Most the time Pazu is somewhere between hates and "on her own terms" about scritches. Occasionally she loves it but is often short lived.
What she does demand is to be held in a hand for as long as possible.

Haha this afternoon when I was changing my shirt, Bumble flew into my back. I had to stand awkwardly since there was nothing for her to grab onto, but her claws did a nice job of giving me a back scratch!

Not mine, but you can see just how upset this guy gets when he doesn't get his scritches

No. My bird hates being petted and has never asked for a scritchie in the nearly 9 years we've had him. He steps up and is very friendly/playful but being touched on just isn't his thing.

Ducky and Kermit love scratches, but Bluebell does not. I think it's pretty typical of most budgies. Ducky "bows" his head down for me to scratch him and nuzzles against me.
