Hello, I haven't been on here in a while, but I would love some suggestions!

I have 2 Green cheeks, argyle and fiji. They are currently fully feathered and can/do fly around the house when allowed out when we are home. Both birds were clipped when I got them as youngsters, but have been flying for more than a year now (argyle is 4, and fiji 2).

My boyfriend and I are getting ready to close on our first house, and I am unsure what to do when we move in a couple weeks. Should I clip the birds so they can't fly initially until they get new feathers and get a chance to settle in, or is it better to keep them as is? House we are moving to is twice as big, with open floorplan and loft, so the ceiling will be 3x as high as it is now. Argyle is much tamer than fiji, he seeks people and will step up on command. Fiji likes things on her terms. She will voluntarily land on chair behind you or on your head/shoulder, but does not like to step up, but currently knows phrase " get in your house" and will go from on top to in it with that phrase... I have dogs and cats, and have never had any problems with any of them in the birds, but have left the birds flighted so they could get away if needed, but I am also concerned about them loose in a new house with a height I can't reach...any advice is helpful! Thanks

Rio (Yellow sided conure) sadly no longer with us
shouldn't be a need to clip them. Just give them a day or so away from the chaos of the move in a separate room. I'd personally try to move them last just to avoid stressing them out.

As soon as things have calmed then they should be fine, maybe go an show them the windows and what-not tapping on the glass and letting them touch it as well as you go

Yes agree give them a tour of the house so they can familiarise themselves with it. Take great care with the other pets in the house, accidents do happen and can be fatal.

The birds may find the high points of your new home a great thing to annoy you for a bit but will come down eventually. Hope that given no high drama that they will get bored of it. Don't forget that you can use the good one to your benefit, ie give treats and attention, they do not miss much!

Love the phrase " get in your house", whatever works LOL.

I'd stay flighted especially in light of the additional pets you have.
