New Bird

I am going to be looking in to getting a new bird within the coming up months and I am deciding between a parakeet or a lovebird. I've had two parakeets in the past but they were so scared I never hand trained them. I want one that is going to be active and play around a lot and a little crazy. feel free to leave other options as well. Thank you!

I have had many parakeets A.K.A budgies, in the past. Some of them were active and crazy little fluff balls, others were more laid back, two of which were untamed. Opal is one of those two budgies, she is nippy, Cassie was untamed as well. But she became ill and passed a couple years ago. My lovebird is more active and loud and messy than any of my other birds. My cockatiel is more laid back, cuddly, but he also makes lots of noise, but he seems to make less of a mess.

It depends on the bird as an individual. Some may be very active and playful, others will be more laid back and prefer to cuddle than play. Although Cockatiel's are known to be more laid back, lovebirds and known to be very active, and budgies are known to be "class clowns", these traits aren't guaranteed.

I only add cockatiel in here because it is my experience with the breed compared to my experience with lovebirds and parakeets.

Thanks for the info ab parakeets I knew they could be like that butunfortunately when I had my parakeets they were giving to me as a gift when I was young so neither me nor my parents knew what we were doing but they still did live a while. Thank you for your help I might just have to go ahead and get another cage and two of each

I love both those breeds, I no longer have any budgies but I do have a lovebird and she is such a joy. When I have all 4 of my birds out, my lovebird (boomer) chatters and flys around the living room. sometimes I swear she's lecturing the other birds it's cute she gets near them and starts making a bunch of noise. She's not very loud either. If you wanted my opinion, I'd go with the lovebird...
