GCC in an apartment?

I'm planning to get a Green Cheek Conure but I live in an apartment. I've been doing research but there are so many different opinions on how "loud" a GCC is! I would not risk getting a bird if I am not able to care for it for the foreseeable future, so if a GCC is not right for apartment living I would not get one until I move into a house.
The situation: My apartment is suite style; I have my own room that is connected to a common room, my three roommates have their own rooms as well. My roommates obviously know that I am planning to get a bird and are fine with it "as long as it's not annoyingly loud". The walls of my apartment are not super sound-proof, so I could not have a bird that is louder than, say, as loud as a human could normally sing or talk without going into scream-mode, during the time frame where humans would normally be asleep (probably around 11pm - 9 am).
I've read that conures have a tendency to screech in the mornings and before bed, if they do, what time does it usually happen, and how loud is it?
Would it be a good idea for me to get a Green Cheek?

I'm a new owner of a GCC and my feathery friend is super quiet. Might make a little noise first when uncovered and getting food ready but other than that extremely quite. When I leave I leave the TV on the country channel. Only likes county which is cool. Maybe yells for a minute but not loud at all. It's only been 5 weeks but very quiet. Would you be able to leave him out of the cage during the day? Mine is out all day. Where are you planning on putting the cage? Good size cage is needed. Bout the size of a book shelf. Need a lot of time and patience. Me & my wife tag team lol.Hope this helps. Others can be more helpful. Good luck.

Gcc are one of the best and most quiet Parrots for an apartment. You will be fine having one. They dont squawk loud like most birds do x

My GCC is louder than my budgies and cockatiel, but should be okay in an apartment. Some birds are quieter than others, and it all depends on the individual. My GCC makes noise when I put him in his cage and leave the room, he makes a contact call because he can’t reach me. He also screams when he’s terrified of something, and he usually makes that call in flight. Other than that, GCCs are pretty quiet birds. Their screams are nothing like sun conures if you’re worried about how loud the actual screams are.

yeah like above my GCCis quiet, even in a contact call I can barely hear it if I'm far away and not at all if I go downstairs, a GCC is fine in an apartment. I wouldn't go with a jenday or sun conure etc.

I plan to keep the cage in my own room (I definitely have enough room), probably between my closet and my bed. I'm a college student that doesn't have a lot going on so I will be out for 7 hours maximum a day and will spend the rest of that time in my room or my living room with the bird out of its cage.

Try and put the cage against the wall. They feel more secure like that. Do you have a big cage? Also get something like a plastic sheet or mat so you dont have to vacum every day lol for under and around the cage. Mine loves his bedroom cage and being up here at a high point. He has even learned to be quiet if he is awake before me. Some window light will do him good too. It helps keep their bones nice and strong and i think adds vitamin D. Also if your on a budget being a college student you could look into making toys, its way cheaper x

What carl was referring to, if I'm asleep clark is quiet, so long as he is near me and sees I'm not doing anything interesting he won't wake me. He's very considerate. Also I've noticed if I have to leave him in his cage, in the bedroom, the contact calls stop after about a minute and he doesn't chirp for no reason like some neighborhood dog. Also once you get them talking they realize that gets more attention so the loud shrieks are minimal at best.

On this particular thing, maybe? at first? but once they learn to talk clark always practices his English before bed, (he's a native Bolivian, Peruvian, or something, apparently they chirp down south). But it's all quiet "come ons" and "I love yous" and "whatcha doing"...if I wasn't right next to him I'd miss it. In the mornings I haven't heard anything really, he comes out I huddle him to my chest and we go to the bathroom together, him to poop over the sink and me to....(well no not in the sink).

Parrots are quite adaptable and intelligent. More than anything in the world, they want to fit into their flock (i.e. you and any other humans who are frequently around). In nature, fitting in means greater overall survival odds, a chance of finding a mate, raising young and passing on their genetics. Even as a lone bird amongst humans, they just adopt you as a surrogate flock and want to behave the way you do because they are instinctually driven to do so. If you are loud and crazy, they'll be loud and crazy. If you're calm and relaxed, they'll be calm and relaxed (as much as is possible for a parrot). They pick up their social/behavioral cues from YOU.

I noticed that the last comment was a few weeks ago but will chime in on my thoughts.
Not sure you got your GCC yet; I just got mine about 5 days ago. He is 9 weeks old and pure joy.
I had the same concern as you since I live in a townhouse with thin walls. The GCC seems to be the best choice. I really wanted a Sun but...

"Buddy" lets out these really cute chirps. He sits on my shoulder a lot and nuzzles close and gives baby chirps...UNTIL the other day I was watching a YouTube video on conures and and adult GCC came on the screen. Buddy saw him and let out a HUGE holler, right next to my ear.
Needless to say I was shocked at what came out of a 9 week old. But it wasn't REAL loud like a Sun. Am just not sure it will get louder as he matures. Am guessing it will but not sure.
The volume was just enough for my house.

teeheeeheee to caitnah yeah they do that

over time though in my experience the older they get the quieter they become....they figure out when it's parent work time or sleepy time or OMG FUN TIME.
