- A 4 year old House Sparrow named Kiwi and a 22 year old dove named Baby
Hi there,
Just had a couple questions about normal amount of napping times. Sometimes i worry my birds nap too much.
I have a 22 year old ringneck dove and a 4 year old house sparrow.
I wake them both up around 7:20 am. (Although im sure they can hear me moving around and maybe wake up as early as 6am)
My house sparrow Kiwi asks to go bed by 5:30 - 6pm and he gets covered for the night at 6:30, any later and he will start to complain. I usually tuck my dove, Baby into bed a little later 7:30 or 8:00 otherwise he will coo through the night.
Both birds have their own sleep cage and they both have their own much larger cages they play in during the day.
Kiwi likes to go to bed early, be in complete darkness, covered, and in his own quiet room. Baby goes to bed later, must be fully covered with white noise playing low in the back ground. This usually helps prevent him from cooing at random times through the night.
Both of them have lots of energy when waking up and have their own seperate day cages with various treats and toys. The napping really starts around 12:30-1:00. (I have a camera on them and check in when i can from work) then the napping starts again from about 2pm - 3:30pm. They both get very quiet and could nap for what seems like the entire hour or so.
After im home and let them out, i get about 30-45 mins of play before kiwi will want to start snuggling somewhere (under a shirt, on my shoulder etc..) these naps could be anywhere from 5 mins to 20. Followed by 20-30 mins of activity then more naps, another short activity burst, then more naps or wants to go to bed.
Baby wont usually nap while he is out at all, maybe once in awhile, but Baby will nap more often throughout the mid morning.
Obviously, i have no idea what is considered normal napping or if this is too much?
What do you guys think? Thanks!!
