...although I know you guys are too nice to laugh at me ;)
Anyway, do you need to bother putting toys in a sleep cage? The cage will be used ONLY for sleep so my baby will know that it's bed time when he goes in there (he'll have an aviary to play in during the day when I'm not home or can't be entertaining him, and his play gym inside as well, and me of course :)), so is it okay for the cage not to have any toys in it? I'm assuming there should be a couple of perches so he can choose which is more comfortable to sleep on...

Laugh at you ................................... NEVER

Yipe place a perch or two in the cage, let him choose, perhaps he will use both.

I did not want Mishka to think it's playtime in her night cage, so no toys.

I have placed a small chain hanging in Mishka's night cage. Sometimes during the night, he basically sucks it, like a baby sucks a dummy. After eating he does exactly the same with the chain. When he "sucks" the chain I know he is happy and content

I have one perch in Fred's sleep cage...no toys. I always have pellets and water, in case he gets the munchies during the night! LOL!

:pNo...you can't have Fred!:p

It's funny that you say that though. My sister and I were talking about him last night, and she referred to the price I paid for him as the best money I've ever spent!( Birds are expensive here) If someone were to offer me a huge amount of money, I'd have to say No....

If the time ever comes when I can't care for him due to age or illness, I'll be using my bird forum friends to find him a lovely owner...:)

Yeah, birds can be pretty expensive, but if you think about it in comparison to life span and how rewarding they are (I mean, if a dog could live for 50+ years I wouldn't mind paying thousands of dollars for one), they really are great value for money... Not that they are a commodity of course.

Yeah, would be hard to change his name when he already knows how to say it. If I get Sundance (will find out tomorrow if I'm going to) I'm hoping I can change his name without any issues. I don't believe it's one of the words in his vocabulary...

I don't think Ant is either, she referred to Mishka's night cage as "her" cage :D

GUILTY AS CHARGED me

Remember I have been calling Mishka a girl for just on 3 years, being with Mishka basically 24/7 ever single day. It is quite an adjustment for me, but each day I am improving. Yesterday when I called Mishka and said good girl, HE said to me boy boy boy, even HE is trying to help me out.

You will notice all my posting etc, are now in blue print, reminding me that Mishka is a BOY

Ant, I completely understand, it would be so hard! Besides, my parents get the sex of my pets wrong even when they KNOW their sex lol.

Sterretjie has 2 perches, one is straight and one is in the corner. She has a hanging stick-man that is made of wood next to the corner perch and she sleeps snuggled next to the stick-man every night.:D It is just something that staid in the cage after she came out of hospital. I cover her with a blanket in the winter and with a sheet in the summer. ;)
