I was just thinking about this... Usually when I see Bella sleeping she sleeps with both of her feet on her perch (as far as I can tell). Is this normal? What positions does your bird sleep in?

I think most birds sleep with both feet on the perch, don't know for sure.....
This picture below was taken a while back, yet Mishka still sleeps in exactly the same position

oh okay. For some reason I thought the whole two feet on the perch thing was weird... Bella doesn't turn her head back that I know of. But I guess if she is comfortable then she is okay, right?

They all sleep in different ways and depending of the depth of the sleep too I think!

I have seen Cal with one foot up on a perch or her food bowl, in her cozzzzy hut on her back, on her front, with her head buried in her back....when we first had her she used to wear herself out so much she would be like a human toddler, falling asleep whilst playing with a toy lol. So funny to watch her swinging with her eyes shut, fast asleep.....

As long as they are warm and happy I don't think it matters! :D

Max sleeps on 1 foot; Ruby sleeps on both feet but dozes on one; Jade mixes it up - sometimes 1, sometimes 2, sometimes upside down....depends on her RFM mood.

Mishka is adorable there.

My favorite thing Gandalf would do was sleep like that, except his beak would be under his wing. If I got up too early for his liking (one of my fishing trips), he would open one eye, watch me for a minute, and then go back to sleep. All without moving. It was soooo funny.

Nicky has this thing called a "cuddle buddy" and he would stand on a perch and lean back against it while he had his head under his wing. I don't know how the heck he could breathe! Now he sleeps in a hut.

Bella is a sleep talker and it is hilarious!!! She is usually using two feet on a perch with her head tucked down or if she is in her sleep tent she is on her belly, kind of (hope that makes sense).

Ozzy sleeps with one foot up and his head turned back and talks and talks and talks away. I cover his cage and in the beginning thought he was awake playing by himself but after peeking a few times I realized he was sleep talking. (My boyfriend does the same so I guess I should be used to it!!)

As a side note: I bought one of those cuddle buddy things as well as a sleep tent/hut thing and I wish I had been recording Ozzy when I showed them to him.. he gave me this look like I was the biggest idiot in the world for thinking he would enjoy such things. They are still sitting in the tupperware under his cage (one of the many things he has decided he doesnt like and I cant return).

haha! For years Nicky would always prefer the cuddle buddy and just ignore the hut. So that was stored under the cage (because I couldn't return it) and then I decided to put it in his cage again to see what he would do. Now all of the sudden he likes to sleep in the hut and doesn't even touch his "buddy" anymore.

You have wonderful memories of Gandalf, always to be treasured.
I could just imagine him, peeking at you, I reckon he was giving you a dirty look

Thanks for sharing them with us all

Typical birds, just like kids.....
Keep it and perhaps at a later stage he might show some interest.

At least if you are unable to sleep during the night, you will always have someone to chat to
