How would you know this is a "cross post" or " double post" with another forum/ site? Do moderators check other sites? :green1:Does this only mean cross-posting within this site? Maybe the moderators cross-post themselves? Am I being watched? I hijacked a game from another forum/site, am I in trouble? Isn't that cross-posting?

Hello, Leslie. Let's see if I can answer your questions.

You seem to be referencing two different rules in your post, so I'll break down each to make sure that we are on the same page.

1) The terms "cross-posting" and "double posting' are often used interchangeably, but basically refer to the practice of making the same exact (or virtually the same) post twice in two or more threads... usually with the intent of increasing the chances of the post being seen. (This is not to be confused with quoting a post from another thread, which is perfectly fine.) The rule against doing this is in place to prevent unnecessarily cluttering this site with clones of the same question or comment. It also makes for a more cohesive and helpful future reference, as the answers to a particular question/comment are in one thread rather than spread haphazardly across several others. (The exceptions to this rule? Authorized Supporting Vendors who are advertising their products, and Super Moderators in the rare instance where a double posting is deemed necessary for the safety of our companion birds or the smooth running of this site.)

2) Posting directly from competing parrot forum sites is also not allowed. Nor is posting a link to a competing forum site. The reasoning behind this is rather straightforward and simple. After all, one would not be surprised to find that Home Depot doesn't allow signs for Loews to be hung up on their walls. Nor would Petco allow the same for PetSmart. Know what I mean?

Do we mods make a habit of checking other sites across the web in order to catch such appropriated posts? No. Lol! Most often, we see that this is the case because the poster references and credits the original poster and site. Or links the original article. Other times, we will be alerted to the fact by those of our wonderful members who have taken a vested interest in maintaining this community of which they are a part. Or, in a few instances, we actually have come across that article/post/thread elsewhere ourselves and, upon recognizing it, moderate the post and reach out to the member with a reminder of our forum rules and guidelines.

3) Do we mods cross-post ourselves? Well, as I stated above, we do reserve the right to cross-post if deemed necessary for the safety of our birds or the smooth running of this site. This exception, however, is rarely used.

4) Are you being watched? Hahaha! Uhmmm... should we be watching you? Anything you need to get off your chest?

5) The game that you "hijacked" from another forum is not cross-posting from another site unless you copied and pasted the post of that game directly from said site. Also, you didn't provide a link to the site in question. What you did is not so much cross-posting as taking inspiration from something you've seen. To go with the same analogy I'd used earlier, Home Depot sells Black and Decker drills. Lowes sells DeWalt drills. But they both sell drills. It's all about your preference. So no, you're not "in trouble"... again, unless there's something you need to tell us? They say confession is good for the soul. Lol!

Big-Brother is always watching!!!

The real question that needs to be asked is "Why would anyone want to go to any other parrot-forum in the first place?!?!?"

Darn, ChristaNL, I was gonna give you some of mine. (They think their little sister can't survive without them... Reminds me of most of my birds!)

Regarding #4:
Well, I admitted my evil plan to be Queen of the World by hijacking that super-fun, previously-hijacked game! You also know I live in Parrotian Castle where I serve fluffy or sweet or evil or kind or stupid parrots who love to make messes because they can. (That part of my evil plan isn't working.) Other than that, I'm good. (or evil depending your choice.)
I really don't have much to hide other than my income tax returns. HAHA
