My bird poops on me...

It seems that my GCC loves to poop on me. The thing is he doesn't poop all that much in his cage. But as soon as I get him out.......BAM.

I don't make a scene about it and I don't take him back to his cage. I just put him on my shoulder and clean it up. I figured that if I put him back in his cage, he would definitely poop on me when he wants back.

I haven't had him long, about 2 weeks, but he seems very comfortable with me. He is on my arm right now preening himself. I thought it could be nerves that spark it but I have no idea.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

You can try simple potty training. Have a piece of newspaper in hand when you take him out of the cage and say the word poop. Then praise him when he does this. After a few times the bird will catch on.

Do try that....It's amazing how fast they learn. Both Fred and Levi will poop on command, and I hardly ever get pooped on.

Get used to it. I have Pepper trained to know that she has to let one go before she comes out at night but so far that only work Monday thru Friday when I get home from work. 20 minutes later all bets are off and its bombs away.

Lol my little Chia poops on me lots, I never really mind its so tiny and not smelly. Potty training is great though

Birds won't "hold it" or at least, not for a long time. I offer the paper every 20-30 min.when they are on me ........It usually works!
