Peach faced lovebird
Hi, I have a three year old peach faced lovebird since a chick. He's tame and has always been very closely bonded to me, however I've been wondering for some time, would it be possible to introduce him to a companion of his own species? would another lovebird be best/ easiest for him to bond to, or would another species, possibly such as a cockatiel or budgie be less prone to aggression?
I am in the right situation to be able to take in another bird, and have plenty of time to spend with the both of them/introducing them etc so that is not an issue. I feel another bird would be able to give him a companionship and enrichment that I as a human simply cannot, and to provide him company when I'm not home. I just worry that lovebirds can be quite aggressive, especially since he's already in adulthood and can be a bit set in his ways at times.

Thanks for any input, it's only just a thought and not a definite thing whatsoever. I just want what would be best for him.

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Are you willing to loose any "bonding" that you have now with your Lovie? Getting him/her a "companion" you may get kicked to the curb so to say,and your Lovie will only want to be friends with this new bird. And again, you don't even KNOW if your bird will like a new friend. Big risks you are willing to take, for what? NEVER get another bird because "my parrot is lonely and I want him to have a friend". Only get a bird if YOU want a new bird, and be prepared for your current birdie not accepting a new one. It happens every day
