travel cages

Do you guys have any travel cages for your birds? Specifically medium sized birds? (eclectus, greys, amazons) I'm interested in looking for travel cages for my birds as my family owns a time share condo in the mountains and it would be nice to bring them with. They'd only be in the cages for a couple days at a time as well as having out time and if it's a warm day probably go on a hike with us and be out of the cages when we are around. it wouldn't be hard finding Apollo one because she's smaller and there's more cages that would be suitable temporarily for her, but what about a medium sized bird like Lincoln? Any ideas?

it is amazing but almost every grey-owner here seems to use them for outside/ holliday/camping/ visiting cages.
Small space for actual transport (pack-o-bird, modified car-carier) and a fold-away stainless steel bench (if you can find one, beware of new coatings, plastic or Sn) for the longer part of the visit.

Just check the bottom- most of them come with tray: plastic or metal- (not all birds will be okey with plastic - mine are not...they will destroy it or die trying)
and sometimes the underside will have a really coarse grid the parrot can just pass through....so make sure the tray is in it all the time!


(I almost lost a guest this way -I was taking him up to the bathroom for a shower experience and had removed the tray and he just left the cage that way .... -He was a serious biter so transporting him that way was the only option at that point.)


Just use a lot of C-hooks that screw shut to prevent collapse/folding in of the structure and to secure the doors.

I have this. Its been great for my BFA. I have used for a few days at a time and hes done fine. Its sturdy and seems well made. The only thing I did to it is to put some zip ties holding the top to the rest of the cage. I wasnt comfortable with just the two bolts that hold the handle to the top of the cage. I have used it a lot and havent had any issues.

any of these would be suitable for a gray, but not so much to go hiking in the woods. The only one suitaable for that is a Pack-o-Bird. Pricey but worth every penny.

I agree with Wrench13: for hiking: take a backpack (and a second mortgage to pay for one)

I have a pak-o-bird already and I intend to use it for car rides and hiking and such. But I don't think it's suitable for a bird to sleep in at night

My grey is a poor traveller and is sick most journeys over 15 miles, but the car is built for speed and motor so much comfort... a pakobird is something I'll have to get and hopefully it will help as I can restrict side vision then.

I also take ice cubes and cooler pack so she can still drink without the water going every where

And not comfort....
