How do I know if my parrot is plucking or molting?

I got my first parrot around 2 weeks ago, she’s an Indian ringneck (the store keeper told me she’s around 9 months) her wings were clipped as well (not my choice!) when I first got her I noticed thar she had some white spots on her chest, she has them around both sides of her wings as well, but she has no bald or red spots. Is she plucking or molting? The first picture is from when I just got her, the other one is from today

Just my opinion - but I don’t think she’s plucking. There’s no bald spots and in the pictures there doesn’t look like there’s any “thin” feathered areas either. I would keep an eye on it, and check any feathers that you find in the bottom of her cage. Molted feathers generally look intact, without chew/beak marks or breakage. When mine molt, in some areas the under-feathers peek through here and there. Are there any pin feathers coming in (new growth)? If you are concerned, a vet check is never a bad idea. Over time you’ll get more comfortable knowing what is “normal” for your bird as well.

Thanks! I might just be a little too paranoid since she’s my first bird and I’m not very familiar with them, unfortunately the place where I live most vets are very unprofessional and don’t know how to properly care for them at all

I had an idea she was molting and not plucking but I needed someone to confirm it

its the SEASON for molting, you'll know for sure when you see feathers everywhere....when a bird molts you go into the room and it looks like a bird exploded....

Look more to the floor and bottom of the cage....

I absolutely adore this comment it made me laugh so much [emoji23] but yes Clark is right when a bird moults unfortunately it looks like they've just turned into a pile of feathers and gone poof. If it was plucking you'd see a lot more bald spots as they tend to pluck out of boredom although boredom isn't the only reason a bird may pluck. Have fun with your new feathered friend! [emoji4]
