I have my doubts, but does anyone know if unscented dryer sheets are safe around birds. As a rule, I know drier sheets are quite bad when scented, and we use free-and-clear detergent, but for wrinkle reduction, I was curious about the safety of unscented varieties....

Thoughts?

As far as I know, the dryer sheets actually deposit chemicals (soap) back on to your clean clothes and towels. We stopped using them all together a long time ago.
If you want our vote, don't use them just to be safe.

Do we have some wrinkles in our clothes.... sure, but that's what Teflon free steam irons were made for.
We have also developed quite a few other wrinkles over the years that no iron can fix :) LOL

Do you have a Teflon free steam iron that works well? If so, I would love to have the model/brand!!! I have been looking for one for quite a while.

Absolutely NOT okay!

As an asthmatic, I found a long time ago that UN-scented dryer sheets cause every bit as much trouble breathing as regular ones. This is entirely different from say, detergent, e etc, where getting unscented usually makes the product just fine... as long as it doesn't have, say, unscented Febreeze or some other terrible chemical added instead!)

With fabric softener - whether liquid or dryer sheets - it's definitely not the just the fragrance that's the problem. It's the Chemical itself that interferes with breathing.

We have a Rowenta. German made. They are pricy, but sometimes you can find a good deal at Bed/Bath/Beyond with 20% off coupon.

Not sure of the model but the plate is all stainless with no Teflon covering.
I broke one many years ago (long fall to hard floor) and took it apart. Very well made and no sign of any non stick covering. The stainless plate is polished to a mirror finish and we have never had any issues with anything sticking to it.
Also since we do not use any dryer sheets, our clothes are clean with no chemical deposit from the sheets and the plate remains clean.
