Does your bird think his/her name is you?

The only thing he can say at this point is his name, and I think my boy is confused. He says his name when he greets me, when he needs my help or is trying to get my attention. He must think it's my name.

Anybody else experiencing the same thing? I've seen other parrot owners who have birds who do realize it's their name and it's a great communication tool, I'm also wondering if this is gonna make it tricky to train him.

My GCC who passed could only say her name, but she said it a million different ways, so they knew what she meant.

Penny and Neptune call me Pretty Girl. Which I love! It started because Penny would say hello pretty girl, she would say that when she wanted me to come over to her. As this got reenforced, it turned to come here Pretty Girl. Then Neptune noticed I responded to this , so he does the same thing. When I walk by he says hello Pretty Girl, and when he wants me he says come here Pretty Girl.
I don't say pretty girl,
This started from Penny, who heard pretty girl in her previous home.

Almost but not quite.
Bingo knows my wife's name and knows who she is. Will call her name at appropriate times, like when she is eating something and she did not share some.
BUT Bingo also knows my son's name and he thinks it's my name too.
If I go to bed without saying goodnight and giving him a good night scratch I will hear him calling "Michale" (my son's name). I have to go back and give him the attention he is use to.

Salty knows his name, and says it, a lot, but he calls me Daddy, and my wife Geri, and he knows the dogs name, Tinker, too and teases her, calling "here Tinker, c'm here puppy" in Geri's voice.

Quaker parrot, Ralph
My two parrots know their own names, and each other's. QP Ralph calls me gracckk! (which must mean something in Quaker language-- maybe "Hey, you!") and Scooter the CAG calls me Boop! like the sound the toaster oven makes (she knows who prepares the food for her). My old YCA George thought everybody was named George. :D

My quaker calls my daughter by my dog's name. Using the intonation I use when said doggie is in trouble for eating the cat food.
It's hilarious, lol!
