I know this is a very sad situation for anyone who has ever had to do it, but can anyone provide guidance as to the rough cost of a necroscopy? I am curious myself, as it could be expensive---I have no idea, but it would be nice to know.

:(

Thank you!

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Last time I obtained a necropsy was for Gandalf, my Citron. Been a blur, but I believe the cost was nominal with my long-time CAV. He passed suddenly, so the investigation did not follow a period of vet care. Think it was ~$50 or so. If blood/tissue pathology inquiry is needed, expect lab fees to be significant.

The costs vary widely depending on whether the death was followed a long chased illness or something totally out of the blue. The combination of testing can add to the overall costs. I have seen 65.00 up to 200.00 USD.

An active /detailed medical file greatly effects the cost side as known illnesses allow for a targeted approach.

I would say $15 to $300... depending on if you go through an avian vet or a state agricultural station. Costs may also vary based on any tests performed.
