So I use a salt lamp as a nightlight in my room, which is also where I keep my two budgies. Iโ€™ve never bought the stuff about all the health benefits or anything, I just like the warm light it emits, especially because I donโ€™t use candles anymore because of my birds. But now Iโ€™m hearing stuff about the lamps releasing ions or something, and that itโ€™s very dangerous for birds?? I only have it on at night and on the lowest setting but, is it dangerous? I never even thought it could be, oh gosh.

I hope you purchased it at a garage sale as they are worthless. Only issue is if they get damp they will leave an ugly mess as they lift and damage wood surfaces.

Assure that your birds stay far away from it as if they elect to chew on it, it's represents far too much salt intake.

If you still have the box and receipt sent it back and spend your money on a bird toy.

Hi! I have a Himalayan salt lamp, I find them very cozy and they are perfectly safe for your birds, provided that they don't eat the salt (although Pip has been known to take a lick or two once in a blue moon!) I wouldn't worry about it. :)

I like the look of them-- cozy light...Mine have never caused any issue, but if your birds lick them, that could be poisonous due to the high salt content.
