How do your parrots wake you up?

Hello, all.

As I have just been very pleasantly woken up by the Indian Ringnecks who live in and around my garden, I'm quite eager to know- how do your parrots let you know it's time to get up? Funny replies welcomed and encouraged as always.

Mister used to wake me up by doing some very loud, very frequent, albeit beautiful, calls. He would not stop until he could see me.

It has been known on a quiet afternoon, for me to slip into the land of nod just for a few seconds to rest my eyes. Syd usually in his cage for safety will nod off too I have noticed and rarely makes any noise on those occasions. I have tested him by simply closing my eyes and while peeping under my eyelashes have seen him look at me intently before settling himself.
There comes a time of course when enough is enough and he will start by quietly saying 'baby'. He will repeat for a while just very gently but after about 10 minutes he starts to get louder until eventually I can no longer ignore him. If I then speak to him he will be quiet again as if to give me time to fully come to but if I wait too long he starts all over again but this time extends the vocabulary with, 'sorry baby, good boy baby, ok baby' until I give up and have a conversation with him and normal service resumes.

He has me so well trained!

ps. In the mornings I usually wake him in a separate room in a sleep cage. We then start the day together as we go for breakfast and his day cage.

It is amazing how parrots are able to develop routines and cues for certain actions. Syd seems like such a sweet and funny bird. Thank you for sharing.

I sleep on a separate floor from mine, but if I have my door open, I will sometimes hear her---every morning (or 90% of the time) she takes a stick from her toy, goes down to the bottom of her cage and uses it as leverage to pry the seed tray around the room of her cage up --then she lets it slam back down and does this repeatedly lol.

I sleep in the living room with Archie, and he never wakes me up. Even if I really sleep in, he waits for me. This bird could care less about what the sun is doing. Not necessarily a good thing, but it is what it is and I’m not complaining.

For my afternoon nap (God bless retirement), he either also naps, or chatters War And Peace to himself in very subdued volumes. It’s like three people acting out a play.

I have a sleep cage in my room. I keep a peek hole open for JoJo! In the morning, and before he goes up on his sleep perch, he watches me! In the morning, he waits to see me move. If I am a bit too long, he taps on the cage!

One of my Goffins sleeps in a cage in my bedroom. I often awake before them, but if not, the gentle crunch of a pellet does the trick. Very light sleeper!

Fuji sleeps in a night cage in my room. He is as quiet as a mouse until the morning. As soon as I stir a little he pipes in with “Whatcha doing”. It always amazes me that he only does it once I flip or rearrange my pillows.

Salty never wakes us up. He sleeps in the large living/dining/kitchen area (open floor plan) under a black cover, so we wake HIM up. He wakes to a good wing and leg stretch and gets a nice morning head scratch before his breakfast.

On weekdays, I wake them up at 6am by getting up and around and then I turn on their light.

On weekends, we all sleep in and they begin to sing us awake around 7-8am. It's so funny when they do their morning singing.

half the mornings Enzo is awake before I am, she will wake me up normally before my alarm with a combination of

Whistles you call a dog with
shouting 'Dad, come here'
shouting 'Come on'
My alarm sound, either android or apple
My phone call sound, again either android or apple

A lot of the time, i have such a calming and peaceful start to the day lol

Trigger wakes us up on the weekends (when we sleep in a bit) by saying in MY voice, very soft and sweetly, any or all of the following:
"Hi Trigger!"
"Peekaboo!"
"I love you!"
and sometimes...
"Oooh! Peapod!" (he loves peapods, so he picked this up from me trying to get him to eat his veggies as I showed him the peapods to entice him to eat. Lol!)

Bebee wakes us up by screaming and then saying in soft voice “stop it”. Sometimes there are some soft mumbles and what sounds like “brat” thrown in there as well.
I really miss my grey who would make a small alarm clock beep from my childhood when she wanted to get up and my ringneck who would say peekaboo. When I would get downstairs to uncover him, he would be peeking out with one eye through the tiny space the cover didn’t quite reach.

The bell, that dreaded bell. If enzo is grounded in her cage but wants to come out, she swings on her bell constantly... damned annoying but you have to try and laugh
