Green Cheek Conure (Name: Climber, he climbs everything :3)
Blue Cinnamon Conure (he looks like a kiwi, so his name is Kiwi :3)
Painted Conure (Name: Rainbow! :3)
So I've recently posted something regarding my GCC meeting my lovebird.
They are both very aggressive towards each other. I also used to have a pair with my GCC which was a Pineapple GCC which flew away.
They were so cute together, it makes me wonder how do parrots recognize their own breed? (GCC was aggressive towards lovebird while it was fine with the Pineapple GCC)

No breed but species - this is like how you recognize other people than monkeys...

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Parrots have extraordinarily keen vision and may also sense similar species through scents/pheromones. There is a lot of instinct programmed into their brains.

Umbrella Cockatoo- 15? years old..I think?
They also don't get along with their species sometimes--- so yes, just like you recognize a human, they recognize their species, BUT they don't always prefer them on an individual level (2 birds of the same species are not always going to get along)...Just like people won't always get along.

They are very visual and very smart. Plus, in the wild, they have to be able to recognize their own kind for mating purposes (that is not to say they won't mate with other species in captivity sometimes) but recognizing their own kind is kind of hard-wired...They have the intelligence of human toddler (smarter than dogs)...I mean, a child recognizes a human vs a gorilla...a child can talk about "same" and "different".
