Hi everyone , I am trying to decode the year of import for a Blue Fronted Amazon that lives with me. It is an open round cross section Stainless Steel Band that reads FEN followed by 3 numbers. My understanding is that The F Means FLORIDA and E is the private facility and the N is the first number of a consecutive serial or lot number. In the past USDA had a chart but they redid their website and this info is no longer available .Does anyone have a copy of the chart know where I can find it. All the links I have found on google so far seem to be broken. I understand that the band means prior to 1992 . He is having some health issues and it would be a help to know his age a little closer. Thanks a lot.

Jade & Jasper - Meyers - Adopted from Rescue - estimated age is 5 or 6.
This is all I can find. You may just have to call the USDA Administration Office Department of Agriculture, Fish, & Wildlife directly for assistance but if they discarded the records prior to 1992, you may just be out of luck.

The US Government has shut all of its facilities down and what records that existed in their system have found their way to either a recycler facility or a landfill. In addition, no one is following their past guidelines as the only Breeders that use bands are using them for their own internal control.

Microchips have replaced leg bands as the preferred means of identification.

If your Blue-Fronted Amazon is having Health Problems, getting a feeling for its age is not going to have that much of an effect! A Young Amazon can today having health problems once common with much older Amazons. Your time needs to be targeting finding a Certified Avian Vet ASAP.

Where you are located is very important as to how many CAV are near you. It is not that uncommon that your CAV is three or more hours away. Travel time is not important, knowledgeable /high quality care is!!!

We have worked exclusively with older Amazon and the many physical, emotional, behavioral, and age related issues. Today, we are seeing like problems in mid-teenage.

So, what kind of health problem(s) is your Blue-Fronted Amazon faced with?
