Did you get him from a breeder or a pet store? If you can, I would suggest you take the bird to a professional who can wean the baby for you.

Big Bird all you need to do is decrease the volume of hand-rearing food & increase fruit & veg, pellets or what ever the breeder has recommended. It is very easy to wean a chick. If your bird doesn't eat to much H/R food in the morning just drop that feed for a bowl of chopped up fruit & vegetables. Once i get to that stage with my chicks i monitor them closely, feel their crop every evening to see how much they have eaten & if i am not happy I will give them formula before they go to bed like around 6 to 7PM. Once they are not to fussed on the formula anymore I just don't give it anymore.
