Hi my parrot just passed away and I think it was bird and feather disease. However, I have had him for about 8 months and want to find out more. He has a ring and I am from the UK. I don't know where to input this so please tell me. Also his ring is NB20 FB 31 27
Also the NB is ontop of the 20 like a fraction with no line

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
My deepest condolences for the loss of your parrot.

Bird band nomenclature often follows no standard conventions and varies by breeder. There are some exceptions, hopefully our more knowledgeable members can assist your search.

Very sorry for your loss.

Prior to the shutdown of wild parrot import. Birds would enter a country and held in government facilities. At those facilities leg bands with very specific numbers were placed on each bird. In those days, the government kept record and one could trace back to date and place of arrival.

Today, leg bands are not governed and 'if' used, the only individual that would know what the band meant would be the breeder. To obtain any information would require you to backtrack to the individual you purchased the bird from and they maybe able to provide information regarding the breeder.
