I was given oak dowels and would like to use them for my bird...i have read that oak wood is not safe, however I have also read that with the bark stripped and in this form it is safe~ very confused, please advise!

Different sites says something different.....like your old post, yes the barks and leaves are toxic. From way back many years ago it was said to be safe if the leafs and bark was removed... thats what i know back in the 90's...there are bird toys made out of oak. One of the reason I wouldn't suggest you using it is because your macaw would chew through it like a toothpick....
