I was actually going to ask the same question. I have one too, it's supposed to protect against mites, and such. Does anybody know if they actually work? It says "lasts months" but doesnt specify how long either.

Exact reason I asked, that as well that I've heard it gives off a odor so I want to make sure that the odor isn't harmful or stink up the room(Is is safe for humans to be around as well).

lol hopefully will both find an answer :)

I bought one of those a while back from Walmart. When I read the ingrediants in it and read up on line of the pre-cautions on the ingrediants, I took it back to walmart and got my money back. My bird doesn't have mites, but if she gets them, I'll take her to the vet and see what they say about what to use.

The active ingredient is sevin...for it to actually be effective, you would have to cover you bird in it daily....which would likely poison your bird as well.

I'm going to go return mine, read around the stuff is pretty much poison for the bird.
