Looking into getting a friend for my 6 y/o WB caique. I only have seen 2 parrot rescues around me. I live on the eat coast of Florida, I done lots of searching but with no avail. I am willing to drive 1-2 hours to a rescue. And please no breeders, just rescues.

I would say FPR as well like Flboy said. Theyve got birds all over Florida, and as far as ai know are the only legit one in the state. A common misconception is that a parrot rescue is like an animal shelter where all the parrots are kept, this is not the case! There is no "storefront", it is a network of foster homes throughout the state, all certified and regulated by the organization itself. As you can see on the site on the page for birds for adoption, most of the birds are in different locations (different foster homes). These people do this out of the good of their hearts therefore there is no need to spend money on a specific place, and the birds need rescuing all over, not just one place, plus living in a home is much better for the bird being rehabilitated. There may be 30 birds for adoption, in 30 different homes, in 25 different cities/towns. Good luck!

Have you looked into these folks?
Florida Parrot Rescue

Dr. Geiler, from the other thread can also point you in the right direction, he works closely with these groups!
He takes in any wild, injured animal, free of charge too!

I have! That is the only one I have seen that I am interested in. He seems like a cool guy, very sweet!

I have looked into them, it seems to be the only one I have seen that I could trust the most. I am looking into contacting someone to see if my bird can meet them :) It is a very good idea, I hope I can help foster one day with them too!

You need to fill out their adoption eligibility form, and if you are accepted, they will contact you. As far as I know, FPR is the only rescue in Florida; I could be wrong, but are you sure the other was an actual licensed/registered rescue (nonprofit)? If you want to share it I can look at it and tell you right away what its about.
Adoption app:

All of their birds for adoption:

Oh I will do that now thank you, and this is the other rescue I was trying to contact ~

Oh okay, that is like a local one, but absolutely legit! Im down in Miami so never heard of it, but Im sure there are some town or city specific ones that Ive never come across. I shouldve claified, FPR is the only statewide one I know of, different towns and cities may have their own, but its important to make sure they are legit and a 501/nonprofit organization like FPR and the one you shared.

Glad to hear that! The owner of the one I just shared with you has contacted me and wants me to meet a quaker they have. I filled out one of those adoption forms too for FPR also.
Thank you!
