Current Adoptable Bird at Phoenix Landing

Here is an example of the wonderful birds up for adoption if you qualify.

The Phoenix Landing Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer organization. It was established to promote and protect the welfare of parrots through adoption, education, and refuge. Beauty comes with age, and parrots live a long time. Even the smallest parakeet can live many years. Please consider adoption first!
ADOPTABLE BIRDS
Here are a few of our many birds looking for their new homes.
NIKKI is a 35 year old Timneh grey who loves to chat up a storm. He was living in a small space with cockatiel food, now he is moving on different perches in a much larger cage and eating all kinds of new foods. Happy happy!! He asks for head skritches and gives kisses.
SUNNY is a very friendly and affectionate 4 year old sun conure who loves lots of attention! His favorite thing is just hanging out with you whether you are watching TV or reading a book. He wants a friend who scratches his head and his belly.

"THE BOOKEND BOYS" are 2 of the remaining birds that were saved from a house fire in Maryland last year. They are not hand-tame, but they will bring the joy of birds into your home, which is all that most of us want. They love playing with leather laces while swinging on their boing. They sing and whistle, and truly enjoy a shower misting.
MARGO is is a high energy girl! She needs a family who is confident with large birds and willing to work with her on her terms (she is not a beginner bird). Margo would really enjoy time around parrots her own size. She is now on a wonderful diet (pellets, fresh chop, fruit, sprouts etc). Her favorites are sweet potato and walnuts. She will shower or try to take a bath in her bowl when the vacuum is running.

Margo does step-up, but some times she doesn't want to, so she should not be forced to without more positive reinforcement training first. She is learning some other tricks like flapping and wings up. She will also play fetch (the macaw throws the ball, the human fetches).

LUKE was dropped off at a vet's office to be euthanized because he had prolapsed (this can happen to cockatoos that are oversnuggled!). The vet thought that Luke had a great chance for recovery. So we took him under our care, paid for his operation and rehab, and Sarah in WV has given him a perfect opportunity to relearn some new behaviors. What a great little boy! He has learned to play independently with his toys and to entertain himself. He loves untreated pine chunks & he will chew for hours. Luke steps-up very well and also enjoys lots of out of cage time on a play stand. He needs a home that will continue to encourage these behaviors and love him for who he is without excessive physical affection.
