Re: Why is Baby biting?

I'm gonna bet he's either finding toe bites to be a fun game, he bites, a sound happens and the toes run away! Endless fun

or of course a classic bit of attention seeking

Re: Why is Baby biting?

If he is biting your toes under the blanket, I am guessing his head is under the blanket, and that is going to lead to hormones in the future (even if your bird is young now). Sometimes, even just...

Re: Why Do People Have Cats If They Just Let Them Run Outside All-Day, Every-Day???

well I can bring some insight from the other side on this as over the years all my cats have been allowed to roam. Of course things over here are different with the lack of as many hazards to them in...

Re: African Grey died less 2-3 from when we received him

definitely get yourself an attorny because you've got a heck of a case here.

Openly threatening you alone is enough to land them in trouble. Also on top of this you've got simple trade laws where...

Re: Aviary Life

wow, despite seeing both in person I forget how close in size Conures are to Ringnecks.

I also forgot you had your own bunch of Conures! Busy household (extremely cute too)

Re: Greys and mirrors

you could always attempt the "spot test" to see if he works it out. Was done on a lot of different animals, essentially you get a mark put on them on their head. When placed in front of the mirror if...

Re: Aggressive male Kakariki

You need to separate the male into his own cage IMMEDIATELY before he kills the chicks and potentially the female too. They might be able to go back to being together once the chicks have grown up...

Re: Indian Ringneck - Head Flicking/Twitching

I can't really comment on the twitching, I would advise a check-up at the vet just to make sure. Better to have the devil you know if it does turn out to be something untoward going on with her. Good...

Good to hear that he's on the mend and just suffering from a bit of sore head and impromptu haircut. That's enough accidents for you...

Re: Alexandrines are illegal in India

to add importantly, do not buy from these people to "rescue" the birds. It's horrible to see them in these situations but doing so gives these people money and reason to keep doing it

Re: Baby Sun Conure Feather Concern

does look a bit younger than 7 weeks, I'd say maybe 4 or 5 weeks?

I'm not too sure on it but I think I've seen the feathers around the crop normally grow in a bit slower than the rest, but don't...

Re: rant ig? dogs vs parrots

I think in regards to the "allergens" as I'll describe them dogs are a lot easier, also in terms of reading their emotions as we've evolved to read each other's emotions. Lastly toys and supplies are...

Re: Biting and Ornery?!

neck scratches should be okay, as far as I'm aware it's not an "erotic" area for them, just keep that the lowest you go

Re: Shaping Appropriate Nibbling

me and a couple others with Conures have found that especially at this age the hard nibbling is not realizing their strength and that they're hurting, much like puppy mouthing.

What I found works...
