Our caiques love to eat just one color of pellet at a time and leave brightly colored poops all about. So now we have a rainbow of carpet stains. What have you found to be the best...

Re: How old is Ciko New pictures.. for Antoniette :)

Based on the eyes still being grey I'd say about 9 months or so. At about a year they start to turn yellow.

Always use caution!

Today is a beautiful spring day. I decided to take the squeak squad in their carriers outside. I also took Neytiri (CAG) who just turned two yesterday out on her harness for the fresh air.

Re: Where do your birds like to sleep?

My CAG Neytiri is a weird sleeper. She will be on her fav perch and lean forward and put her forehead on the front wall of her cage. She has a wear mark on her head from it. Occasionally she slips...

Re: Galah, conure, parrotlet or caique?

I think caiques are great. They are able to entertain themselves very well and will definitely provide comic relief. Just be forewarned. They are like potato chips. You can't have just one. (We have...

Re: Strange feather above Galah tail

With out a pic I think you are referring to the preening gland. It's like a wick for the oil to come out. This oil doesn't waterproof their feathers but instead converts to vitamin d.

Re: General Caique question

Yes black headed caiques have a red ring around their eyes. As for the poop it could be stress from a new home and or the change in diet. Fresh fruit will make it watery. Perhaps let up n the fruit...

Re: Do any of your fids despise certain colors?

Butch our 'too let me know in a painful way (3x in one morning) that he didn't like my brightly colored tie-dyed shirt. Now I just wear blue around him.

Re: Expanding to a flock? Good idea? For those of you who have multiple fids!

When we added the second caique Neytiri really came out of her shell. She now thinks she's a caique and tries to surf my hair like they do. She also chases them around saying hey at them.

Re: so much on sock buddy

Neytiri was in a cone for about 3 months while she healed from a plucking that was do to an infected preening gland. She did well with it and figured out how to get around and even preen a little.

Re: Help with my african gray parrot

You have to build trust. Just sit by him and talk/read to him. It can take weeks/months to build trust. Remember to do everything slow. Don't rush him to do anything.

We also have an 18 mo CAG and a 25 yo 'too. It makes things interesting. Especially when my CAG is acting like a caique. Lol

Re: Anyone near Bucks County, PA for cockatoo boarding

They board in the main area so they get lots of attention. Customers are not permitted to touch boarders. But you can go up to and talk/sing with them. I've boarded our birds there a number of times...
