Re: Can't Decide: Blue and Gold or Greenwing Macaw?

I have a Hahns macaw now :) We are getting a larger macaw later on.

In terms of scent, they're the same.

Now, based off what I have learned/experienced since originally starting this thread:

Re: Someone hold me while I recover from shock...

Thanks *hugs back*

I know he is OK, and safe and sound, but I keep going through so many tissues thinking about it.

He gave me such a confused look though before when I started crying all over...

Re: Someone hold me while I recover from shock...

Mm... Trust me, I NEVER want to experience that feeling again.

I've been running the idea of getting the bladeless Dyson fans by my partner, and I think I'm going to push to get them. =\ While...

Re: Someone hold me while I recover from shock...

I hope so...

I know she know's how dangerous fans are and why it's so important, but I don't think she realised just how close I was to losing him, and that scares me the most.

When I sat...

Unhappy Someone hold me while I recover from shock...

Had just finished celebrating Chinese New Years at home, so I had Pocket out for a night time feed and play. (Seeing as I had been busy all day)

Pocket likes to fly off after each feeding session...

Re: Am I being weird...

I think the removal of food was when it was initially thought to be constipation, so it was thought that he might have been given too much grit. Basically purging his system of anything and giving...

Re: Hahn's Owners - What's your weight?

Glad to hear that goalerjones.

I spoke with the breeder as well and he's not too fussed. If he gains/puts on weight, then it's fine - but if he's losing then it's a big concern.

Re: That makes me sad

That is incredible with the vet having the foresight to think of that. Kudos to her. Glad to hear that the ringneck is doing so well.

Re: Am I being weird...

I am well aware of that, on both accounts. The removal of food for 24 hours is on vet recommendation.

I know you are pointing out the obvious, but this is rather stressful for me. Neither I, nor...

Re: That makes me sad

Yes, full details are quite important. But the way this has been described makes it appear that the dog simply wasn't very important to its owner. What if it would have been a human child who needed...

Re: That makes me sad

I think the vet would have said something, but sometimes - please, please forgive me for saying this, but it's better that the vet puts the animal down.

Hear me out - I got very angry when an...

Hahn's Owners - What's your weight?

For comparison's sake.

Pocket weighs anywhere between 138g (after first poop in the morning) and up to 144g in the evenings after dinner. (I think he's nearing 5 months now - so he still has a bit...

The boiling suggestion of orange peels, cinnamon and cloves is great!

Same thing, mixing lemon juice with water and putting it in a mister.

I use a air filter myself and Pocket get's regular...

Re: Am I being weird...

(Also to clarify, Yuki and Pocket are fine - Pocket is kept in a different room to the budgies now to avoid any risk of infection)

Yuki is pretty healthy apart from being a bit overweight. >_> So...

Sorry, I've been off for the past week. >< I found a tennis racket that was out of my eye level, but directly above them that I've moved, yet they still are there.

Turns out though, my fears were...

... Or take. :\ Including your macaw.

Pocket sleeps indoors for that reason. Theft is a very real concern for exotics.

Re: Learning about Macaws has confused me a little...

Ah, I love the Military Macaws! I would've loved to have put that (or the Buffon's/Great Green Macaw) down on my want list, but they're harder to come by in my country. :P

Gorgeous colouring!...

Wow, Golden Conures are illegal where you live? Wonder why...

We can get them in Australia, but they're priced at about 10k each.

As for other mini macaws, Hahns is the next from a Noble,...
