Re: Kili bit my little boy!! Help!

As as been said, ALL birds will bite and it has nothing to do with them wanting to be "bad" it's because they are wild undomesticated animals that have very few ways to communicate their wants and...

Re: Can Caiques be mellow?

Caiques (as with people) all can be quite different. We have 4 of the little buggers and they are all pretty high energy but in their own way.
Skittles will sit on my shoulder for extended periods...

Re: My Sweet Baby Caique Turned Devil Bird!

Fortunately only one of our 16 Caiques (Caique formula verified) has had any really bad behavior. Chica will slowly stalk then without warning fly at me and take a hard bite on anything she can get...

Re: Jules doesn't hop

They seem to like hopping more if they're on a soft surface like a bed or plush carpeting. It's a lot easier to hop than to run/waddle!!
OR your bird could be defective, hope you kept the original...

Re: Pick me up!!!

Of our four Caiques, only two like to play like this!
It's a blast watching them tumble around and getting into the action with an old fashioned round of finger wrestling or sock tug of war surfing!

Re: Adoption in progress--probably BHC

One of mine pants profusely with the tongue sticking out and everything when he's resting and chilling on my shoulder. Has done it since before he was weened!!
He never does this after exercise or...

Re: New Caique Owner with questions

Keep a garbage can with a plastic bag in it right next to the cage and put them immediately on it first thing and say "poop" or something then praise them when the explosion happens!

Two of mine...

Re: Handicapped CAG - Adaptation experiences to share?

Good tips! I've seen Cockatoos that have one foot scoot around pretty well, CAgs in my experience are pretty klutzy (especially when babies). I'll keep the ropes and ramps low to prevent spills.

Handicapped CAG - Adaptation experiences to share?

We have decided to adopt a 6 week old CAG (once he's weaned) and are wondering if anyone else had had any experience to share about how they setup their environment and handled a handicapped bird. ...

Re: Depressed cockatoo

As others have said, a lot has changed and he is prob just mourning the loss of his old flock and habits of 30 years. Be patient and he should settle in just fine.
My Butchie is 27 years old and...

Re: Cockatoo Owners: Whats your experience with incessant screaming?

The noise would be the first thing I would be concerned with!! A toddler has sensitive ears and the 120+db screaming of a cockatoo in an enclosed space WILL do damage to an adult's hearing and can...

Re: Caiques Nature (Adult)

Like people, it varies with the bird..
I've got 4 of the little buggers and two of them we've had from weening and are 2+ years old and have never gotten to biting any more than a playful nip.

Re: Story with a U2

Not sure as I've never had a baby.. I know that Caique and CAG eyes change color with age but I've always noted that the white Cockatoos ALWAYS had deep dark eyes, even the brown isn't really obvious...

Re: Story with a U2

If they are clipped, they can still fly a bit, just cannot gain much altitude without assistance from a wind gust.
Cockatoos cannot be sexed 100% visually and are normally done with a DNA test using...

Re: How much do your toos talk?

Butchie talks EXTREMELY well and can be quite polite and conversational. (when he's not screaming)
The RBC just makes "kerchunk" noises and something that sounds a bit like "peek-a-bird" but isn't...

Re: Finally Getting a Grey

We have both, the CAG was here first and was always very aloof and quite prissy. Would NEVER be caught dead walking around the floor and was nicknamed "Pompous Parrot".

Once we got two Caiques,...

Re: My caique won't stay on his playstand

E&H do that when I'm here in the office with the door closed. It's an absolute crack-up. Because of their eye-orientation, they sorta put their heads upside-down (as if they're about to do a...

When I leave the room,...
