pretty sure no food is supposed to have insects in it however weco is right about there being an acceptable amount in ANY processed food animal or human.

Unless your feeling sharp ridges in it I wouldn't be too worried as I can't imagine a bird chosing to sleep on something that hurts it especially when it has other options.

Since the spray bottle was used as punishment definately DO NOT use it as it will be counter productive. Try the pie pan idea first then if that doesn't work try taking him in the shower with you....

One thing that might be a good idea is to just open the cage door and let them out on their own for a little while. Part of the problem MIGHT be and over abundance of energy. I'm not saying thats all...
