Re: Changing cages...good idea or bad?

Kermit, Ducky, and Pearl have all gotten bigger cages. I wouldn’t change Blubell’s because she’s a very skittish bird who is scared of going into my other birds’ cages (something the others do a...

Re: “Is he a jerk?”

I always get:

“Is it real?”
“Is that a parrot?”
“That’s a nice parakeet”
“Is that your bird?”
“Are you walking your bird?”
“Can I pet IT?”
“Does IT fly?”
“Can IT talk?”

Re: “Is he a jerk?”

I’ve only ever seen one other parrot out in public (aside from people taking their birds to bird/pet stores and bird fairs), and it was a Quaker :)

Re: “Is he a jerk?”

Kermit (GCC) is very comfortable being handled by strangers when he’s out and about on his harness. It’s not just big birds — people seem very interested in Kermit too. He steps up for everyone...

Re: Is this harness too small for him?

That head loop looks too big in fact, and the Aviator Harness website recommends the X-Small for Indian Ringnecks. The head loop should fit snug and not look much bigger than the head.

Re: Tweety not into fruits.....why

Many cockatiels aren’t a fan of fruits. Ducky doesn’t like any fruit whatsoever. Nothing to worry about, veggies are better for your bird than fruits anyway.

Re: Farm Flock: follow along with *all* the birds in our flock

That’s so awesome! I have always dreamed of having chickens or ducks! I want to see pictures as well. May I ask how many birds do you have??

Re: Ignoring the cuttlebone

Same thing for me, my cockatiel uses her cuttlebone all the time and none of my other birds use theirs. Kermit has never touched his cuttlebone, so I took it out long ago.

Re: Which conure is this ????

The reason I think free flight is too risky for small birds is not because they can’t be trained as well as larger birds. I agree that they are just as intelligent and can be trained just as well...

Re: Does anyone know what bird this is?

Yeah it’s definitely an albino lovebird as opposed to a parrotlet.

Re: Which conure is this ????

Cockatiels rolling over?! Ducky HATES being upside down. I’ve never seen a cockatiel that lays on their back. Where did you see that? I’ve heard that it’s simply not a natural behavior for cockatiels...

Re: Puberty and pin feathers a confusing time in a young birds life (video)

Kermit just wants nonstop scritches, Bluebell looks like a porcu-budgie, Ducky’s crest looks skimpy, and Pearl is missing a lot of tail and flight feathers... yeah, definitely molting season!

Re: Budgie’s Wing Looks Weird

Maybe he banged his wing against the cage bars and the flight feathers broke. Or he could have gotten them caught in something and they got pulled out.

Re: Ducky plucking update

I have some good news!! Ducky has been preening a lot today but not plucking. Maybe it was just the first day that she was “letting it out” and she will stop plucking after all!
