Parrot Feathers

I know a lot of people keep feathers but do you guys keep your parrot's feathers? Where do you store them or what do you do with them?

Luna has been molting a lot recently and she's got some really pretty feathers coming off her so I've been saving a choice few.

However, I'm not quite sure how to keep them. I've been storing them in a jar but they get all mixed up.

Re: Parrot Feathers

I have a bunch of Bumble’s feathers in a pretty jar. I like the jumbled look.

Re: Parrot Feathers

I got a friend at work that makes hats.
He requested pointy feathers so I have been saving up the tail feathers of my Cockatiels to give him.

Have a different friend with cat's, I give her the smaller Cockatiel feathers to make into cat toys.

I have been saving most of the amazon and CAG feathers (especially tail feathers).

Re: Parrot Feathers

Here's what I did with mine... a wall display!

These feathers are from Boo and Ember and took me about 10 months of collection. Love seeing it on my wall every day.

Re: Parrot Feathers

I have seen a few people stuff them into clear hollow glass ornaments.

We keep the fluffy white down feathers on the curtains, the recliner, a pile in the corner, our clothes...........

Re: Parrot Feathers

I had a friend that used to make dream catchers with some of the feathers we saved for her. Aside from that, we have a small vase I put them in like a bouquet. I figure if I save enough of them, I could knit another bird someday lol! (An Ekkie-Amazon hybrid)

Re: Parrot Feathers

Thank you for all of these suggestions!

I really adore jbean's wall display though! That's so beautiful. If you don't mind, could I use that idea?
