Dear all,

I am new to keeping cockatiels. I have a male and female from separate breeders. They are kept in different cages side by side. I am posting a picture of the male bird and his poop. Please kindly see the images and let me know is the poop is normal for cockatiel or is it due to stress of relocation. Thanks in advance. The vent of the male is slightly soiled. However, the bird is lively, it sings and chirps towards the female.

Thanks in advance

The poop looks normal to me.

Where are you located in the world? I always recommend taking any new birds to a certified avian vet for a wellness check -- they can look both birds all over and determine if there are any issues regarding their health! Much better and more reliable then people on the internet.

Make sure they're getting a diet more than just seeds -- they can have and should enjoy a varied diet including pellets, fruits and veggies and sprouts!

I know this isn't what you asked, but you should really not cover the cage partially like that. Uncover full during the day or you could end up with behavioral/hormonal issues.

That is not normal poop. Probably has chlamydia. I'm trying to figure out how many parrots you have...how you are keeping them.

All your burds will need to see tge avian vet. If one has something, all can have it. But aren't sick enough for you to know yet.

A good diet, keeping things clean, and weigh all burds weekly to help pick up issues soonest. Do not put cages on top of cages, as poop and disease spreads to easily that way.

In my opinion, any of the vets listed here should be better than a regular vet.
