Welllllllllllll... if I'm understanding correctly, it's normal for a bird to stand/perch. That's why foot health is so critical. Babies may lie on their backs to sleep or play, but grown birds only do when encouraged by parronts to play or do tricks. "Sitting" flat would make me worry and we'd be headed for the vet!
Parrots have fundamentally different anatomy to ours and thus are incapable of "sitting" and unless they are playing (or become extremely ill), they don't lay down either. They're made to stand 24/7 and most even sleep on one foot with the other tucked up.
Thank you all for your replies.
She's always standing on one or the other.
The reason i asked was because i saw a small wild bird sitting in one of my feeders yesterday.
Made me wonder why i dont see my too ever sitting like that.
Mine never sits. I have a U2.
Actually, standing on one foot when resting is an indicator of a healthy bird. If your bird is sitting or spending resting time on 2 feet, that can be an indicator of illness/weakness.
