I'm on a dog that does a gift exchange every few months. This got me thinking, with Xmas coming, could we? Should we? Do something like this? Of course, participation is voluntary and the forum isn't responsible if someone doesn't hold up their end. They have rules and guidelines on participation and who could and couldn't.

With birds I would be worried about diseases.....

Given the direction our earlier postings were headed, I'm not going to as for clarification about you being on a dog ! ! !

@tab
A gift exchange is giving each other gifts lol, or sometimes it can be a secret Santa

That does sound like fun, but I would be a little worried giving my address out. I try to be careful about who see's that information. Also disease as said above, I think we're all very paranoid about disease haha.

It does sound like a lot of fun though, I would be interested to see what other members think of it.

Ohhhhh right!

Well, i think its up to each member, if you are friends with someone on the forum, and you talk to them alot, then you can send each other a gift if you feel like it? Not sure if its good for everyone to just do it, but you can privately talk to someone and say you would like to send them a christmas gift ?

Last year, Wendy sent me a christmas present for Fargo... Huge big wooden toy, big foraging toy, and toy blocks!!
It was incredible! :) So lovely! <3

I think it sounds like fun! I think that we could maybe come up with things that wouldn't pose health issues. I think some of us have become friendly with each other on this forum, we could see what other members think.

I think that as long as people are use common since everything should be ok :) I wouldn't let Rosie or Kenji touch anything I would be sending to another parront, I'm 100% sure they're healthy but theres that Murphy's law that likes to sneak up haha

Hello,

It may be possible to send things to a Post Office or mail box ? I know we all try to retain our privacy, but how many people put up intimate stuff on Facebook ? And many people use the same Avatar and name on a number of forum's. Anything you buy from Ebay has your address and phone number on the package. I am very careful with putting pictures of people on the internet, especially Kids. How far do we take it though ? A for sale sign in your car with a phone umber ? There are some sites where you can get a sticker to put on your car to say you are available, ( saw it on the news some time ago and I dont need or want another Woman ! ) we can all get a fake ID, and what screening is there ?

I think the risk is minimal from a regular member who has been around for a while. My opinion anyway.

Sounds like it would be fun xP As I hand craft most of my parakeet toys from wood; and shreddables...

Making some homemade perches and sending those out wouldn't be a hassle at all.

Pertaining to individual privacy, to exchange or not, it is up to each individual. IF you decide to do so, always use caution. It's something that the forum can not participate with.

I think if you made it for members who have made at least x amount of posts and paired members up with other members with like sized birds. Then made a min and max gift price. There will always be the person who gets the short end of the stick(me most of the time :p) but if everyone was aware of it and was willing. I would play!

I would certainly "play", too. :D And I think it's a GREAT idea!

But someone needs to come up with a disclaimer that the forum cannot be held responsible for anything ;)

I'd love to do this also. i've done this on other parrot forums and it worked great. Someone needs to take charge of it, print entry forms, set a limit, decide who wants to participate in international ( shipping cost). I'd take charge of it but i'm usually too busy working that time of year. I'll make a sample entry form if you need me to.(species, toy likes and dislikes, etc)

I can run this past my husband and see what he says about the legal issues with the forum being safe from any responsibility. I would be happy to help out with organizing, maybe we can get a group together for this. Henpecked, it sounds like you know what is required (I have no idea) You could perhaps be our lead on this. (see it's not just amazons that we need your help on! LOL)

As MSBS is a sponsor here, how about you are required to order the gift from MSBS and the participants could send their addresses to MSBS. That way the toys are guaranteed to be disease free and we arent putting our addresses out there for the general public. If you wish to exchange, we could start a thread where you post your willingness to participate, then send your name and address to MSBS. Then you could order what you wanted to gift someone and include the name of the person you want it sent to. I understand that would be a bit of work for Kathy at MSBS, but it would guarantee her the sales from it.

I think it should be optional, I would prefers to buy it locally because there's this AMAZING pet store(supplies only, no birds) that has the BEST toys that I'm already planning to get my gift from

For members that have amazon it may be a great idea to make wish list for you birds so people have an idea of what your bird loves, I have one for both Kenji and Rosie. I've always used it as a personal list for things I want to buy at some point.

Does it only have to be toys? I design and sell t-shirts, jewelry etc. at bird fairs. I was thinking to include something like this.

I'd be willing to take on this project. I've participated in so many of these that I understand how they work and I've helped organize a few

Addresses wouldn't NOT be public. Your address would only be given to the person you're paired with. There would be rules, a minimum to spend but no max. That's up to the giver. If it works out, we could do it every 3-6 months.

And Weco, I'm on a dog FORUM. My bad. I try to stay off the dog. Just not that adventurous! lmao
