I've been meaning to suggest this for quite a while but for some reason never got round to it until now.

Why don't we all spend five minutes and update our user profiles? Some of them are out of date and others were never completed after joining. I'm not asking people to divulge personal info they may want to keep private for their own reasons. I'd just like to be able to see what part of the world a person comes from and what kinds of parrots they own. That would be very helpful for those times when advice is wanted. Y'know?

I'm more verbose than many folk, so I've got the whole lot up there. But would members please consider inserting a country and a list of their parrots please? Photos are always fun, but not mandatory... :)

Thanks everyone!

Trish

Great suggestion! It's always nice to know where people are from and who they are owned by! :)

place is origin is the first thing I look for....sort of a 'downer' when they don't put it on their user profile.

I find it interesting knowing where someone is from, considering the four corners of the planet is so vast....

I do like knowing the general area or country someone is from because if giving specific advice, it can make a big difference.

We've had suggestions like this before, but unfortunately the one's that don't list anything still will not. It's as if people are running from bill collectors :)

Yeah I like to see where people are from too, it helps with things like "help I need a vet/supplier in X area". Or simple things like - who to expect on at what times due to time zones etc! ;)

When I post in the morning, I don't expect any replied until the evening for most of you, because of the different time zone. Had I not known that, I might get a little sad and feel ignored. *cry*

Plus, I love when I see the little ",UK" part. UK members make me happy. :21:

I think it's a fabulous suggestion!!! I also get bummed out when I can't figure out who's on what side of the planet :(

What part of Washington are you in?! I'm in Oregon!! I have yet to see another Oregonian, and I think you're the first pacific northwesterner I've found!

I'm from the PNW, Idaho, to be exact, but I don't think that counts since I've been in Houston so long and will most likely stay here.

Posting a thorough profile helps us answer questions people post. We can't point you towards a vet if we don't know where you live. Also I have seen too many rehome posts where the person doesn't post a location and their profile doesn't provide one either. How can you expect to find a suitable home if you won't say where the bird is located at ? If people don't trust us enough to post a tiny bit about theirselves on their profile, then why do they want to ask for our advice. Just my two cents.

I never understood why people would shy away from posting where they're from.....it would be nice to know and maybe make some local bird friends. :)
