Curious how come this forum doesn't allow tagging a specific member(s) in a post so they'll get a notification they were mentioned and to check the post? Is there a reason why it's not? On other forums you just put "@username" and they'll get a notification. I know it's helpful on other forums I'm on to get a notification when someone thinks I may have relevant information and to be able to tag others whom I think would have relevant information and them to know theres a specific post they could help on:)

I like this idea, April! Thank you for the suggestion! I will put it up for discussion in the mod forum and we'll find out if it's possible.

I asked about this to Wendy a month or two ago. In order to do ths, the powers that be will need to fork out a lot more money to upgrade the package/features and they aren't willing to do that.

Great utility though, and I'd certainly love to see it around here.

I also like the idea.

However, two of the tech forums I am on are having problems caused by hackers that have come in on members emails. Now, the forums software stopped the hackers, but the forums out-going emails have been blocked by a couple major carries (like ATT for one).

I hope that there is a special 'place' for hackers in the hereafter.

Nonetheless, it's a worthwhile suggestion. So we'll look into it and get back to you guys with a definitive answer, one way or the other.

Thanks! I know it may not be feasible, but if it is it's a cool feature to have.

We did some checking around, and it turns out that particular feature is not compatible with the software infrastructure in place at this time.

That doesn't completely rule it out for the future, of course, but for now it's not something we'll be adding.

Thank you for the suggestion though, April. We always love hearing constructive suggestions from our members. Sometimes, such as with the new Breeding and Toy Exchange sub-forums, we can actually set these ideas in motion. Other times, as with this particular suggestion, we find that we can't. But the sense of community and spirit of contribution behind the suggestions are always highly appreciated, no matter the outcome.
