We should have "The good, The bad, and The ugly" section for each species. I saw it on a few other forums and I think It would be very helpful for people considering a species.

The more years that I spend with Amazons, The more I am taken back by the truisms of the Bell Shaped Curve, i.e. Yes, there is a center, but there is also the outer edges and everywhere between those three points. Hence, the reality of the same species of Amazon having a cuddler and another being stand-offish. Others talking up a storm and another is quiet. The point is, no single Amazon can be fit into a good, bad & ugly classification.

IMHO, far too many people want to 'select' their Parrot and totally forget that the truly best approach is to be selected by a Parrot. The best of all Worlds is those instant Love at First Sight moments by both Parrot and Human.

When Humans loose this self-centered belief that this is all them and their lists of 'wants', the Companion Parrots World would be a much better place for Parrots.

So, let the other sites provide the Good, Bad, Ugly lists, and as a results, have unhappy owners who select their designer parrot and it turns out differently.

Maybe a list based on the experience level of the Human?

I just read your other Thread! So, how many Forums are you on?

Now, I am that very mean old guy that your Parents have told you for years to say away from his place and for sure, say off his grass! I am no way as kind as all those people that took huge parts of their day (i.e. time) to with depth and heartfelt feelings address your question.

FYI: The current best estimate is that over 1,000,000 ( a million ) Parrots are looking /praying for a home, a very special Forever Home! The majority of members here have brought those special needs Parrots into they home and are providing Forever Homes! They are due respect and honor for what they are doing!

So, with the total lack of a kind bone in my body, I say: They got it right!

I didn't direspect anyone on there. All I did was express how I felt about some of the things that were said. I didn't attack anyone and I didn't target anyone. Thanks for the advice.

Get off my lawn! Mean old 'Boats. You are a thousand percent correct... So many parrots without homes, or in the wrong homes, or in temporary homes. Some of them real troublemakers, real hard to tame, real angry, real dangerous, real expensive sick. And yet some people take them in, endure the bad times, and wait for the healing to arrive. Anybody who hasn't read the "When Harry Met Allee" thread, go read it. Now that's a hero. Mean old Sailboat is a hero. Many people here are heroes, I would nominate my husband for the title as he went and got Gus out of a cage in a rescue. Bless you all.

There's a Zen story, of a monk who applied to be accepted into a different temple. The Master asked him why he wanted to join them, and the monk explained that at his current temple, whenever he asked his master to explain the meaning of life, the master would whack him with his staff, and he was tired of being beaten instead of receiving instruction. Whereupon the new Master whacked the applicant most soundly with his staff, and told him "Go back to your old Master immediately, and thank him for his grandmotherly kindness!"

Thanks to them all, Sailboat, Wrench, Galleria, Uncle Jimmy ... The list goes on and on...
