Currently I have none, but I have the capacity to adopt a minimum and maximum of two budgies - preferably a bonded pair or two males.
Would love it if there were an "Other Birds" section to cover birds that are not "Parrots" like Zebra finches, Chicken, Doves etc and are also not a "Non feathered" pet.

its a valid question. However, I would argue there’s already so many specialized subforums that the current catchall for those not currently listed would suffice. Much more would begin to become redundant.

This is the parrot forum so I understand "others" like Cardinal - this section is for other parrots (I know there are threads about non-parrot birds). The existent would be rename as "other parrots" and add subforum "other birds" This is only my suggestion
Btw name of section "budgies/parakeets" I think have double meaning - a lot of people name parakeets only budgies but "parakeets" can be also named lots of long tailed small/medium size parrots. For example kakarikis, grass parrots and rosellas can be in "others" or "budgies/parakeets" depending on how someone understand word "parakeet"

And for a general catch-all: NonFeathered Pets

The vast number of Parrots limits a Forum for each and every species. When a specific species has a following of size, it can be added. But there is also a need for there to be an active following to avoid that Forum sitting inactive.

I think the Others forum is already inclusive of any species of birds without a specific forum (parrots or not). I have posted there about my Softbills many times.

Yes that is precisely what I mean.

May be not immediately but at a later date. The thought occurred to me while posting my latest thread on Chickens as therapy animals for Senior citizens. I realised that there is no exclusive section for Other Feathered pets besides Parrots :)

I think “Off Topic” would be a perfect place to post about chickens as therapy animals for senior citizens. As Terry mentioned the forum for “Others” is also a good option for birds that aren’t technically parrots.

Well, I changed my mind with every post I read!
I reckon I appreciate both sides.
Uh-oh, now I'm in favor of a new category again, if only because I want to name it "Other Fathered Friends".

Yes ! That is why I posted in "Others" but i found that posts on pigeons were mixed with posts of kakarikis etc hence i got my idea.

I somehow personally feel no topic on animal companion should be "off topic"

My idea of "off topic" would be things like
1. Philosophy of Kashmir Shaivism
2. Best restaurants in Bengaluru city etc.

Cardinal, I do see your point but we already have two subforums that would be appropriate for the thread in question. Chickens as therapy animals for the elderly is a very interesting subject in my humble opinion, rather than limiting the readers by classifying the chickens to a species specific subforum why not open the discussion in the Off Topic section where more people are likely to see it.
