This has happened several times now. Pop up video ads not only on mobile, but thru a data connection.

I don't have extra data enough to post photos thru imager, to watch youtube videos, etc. In fact I use most of my data each month on this site. I think it is in kind of poor taste to have pop up video ads when users are on mobile data. Wifi would be one thing, but I don't have that.

IDK if anything can be done about this, but I would certainly appreciate it if something were to be done about it.

Thanks

android or apple?

on android download adblock plus, it's free and I get no adds even on youtube or the vevo channel of youtube, and that's saying something.... no popups ever.

I use it on my laptop and my phone.

apple may have the same app.

also look at any recent apps you may have installed that might be causing it an uninstall....

That may be a workaround for some, but I don't have extra data with which to download an app, and even if I did my phone doesn't even let me update current apps thru data. Wifi only, even after adjusting settings.

well if you can get it, I'm pretty sure it will solve your problems.....sorry I can't help more...but it's a good app been using it on laptop for about 8-10 years.

I never view this site via mobile so am unfamiliar pop-ups. Will create a topic in mod forum see if anything can be done.

Hi bug_n_flock.

Have you tried signing in on your phone without being in invisible mode?
I get pop-ups on my iPhone, only when I'm not signed in.

I'll sign in as invisible and see if that's the culprit.

Nope, that wasn't it. I was logged in on my iPhone & Laptop in invisible mode and I didn't get any pop-up videos. Only when I am not logged in do I get them.
It was worth a shot.

Sound like you have adware install on your phone. Usually come from downloading free apps, or going on a site and clicking on a pop up. You have to go to setting and apps and look for the strange app.

I have not downloaded a new app in over a year and nor have I updated one or clicked on a pop up. The ads are 100% from this site. Even when they don't "pop up" they start to play in the background, coming from this site. My phone lets me see what is playing music by dragging down from the top. It gives me the option to play, pause, whatever, and tells me the "title" of the "video" playing. In this case, it is "parrot forums 'thread title'" or whatever. When I have video ads from other sites(if I am googling something, say) it has the name of the offending tab. I usually have 1 tab on this site open and any number of other tabs on other sites open. Right now I have 8 other tabs open(LOL OK, I have 3 open to parrot forums, 2 wikipedia, chewy, mysafebirdstore, amazon, birdbreeders.com), and parrot forums is the one playing videos(not currently, but when video ads are being played they usually are from this site). I really don't think it is an issue with my phone, I don't download apps. Free or otherwise. I cannot download or update apps thru data even when I *want* to....

I hope I'm not coming across as mad or rude. It is just annoying that I'm "spending" data on video ads. Images or text ads would be one thing.. LOL I'm so data starved I occasionally will "splurge" data on loading a song on Youtube and replay it over and over again after turning data back off. Hahaha getting internet is on the list, but it is a long list of priorities...

And for clarification, they aren't frequent or anything. Just often enough that they annoy me, but not constant or daily or anything like that

Not rude at all, I certainly understand. If fellow mods don't have a comprehensive explanation, will approach the administrator with the question.

Ok, this is still a significant issue, and the embedded video ads are more and more common now too. I literally do not have the data to spare on this. I cannot have data overage every month because of video ads!

How much I understand you! I am also mad of these pop-up notifications and ads. I also use Wi-Fi less often, because I am constantly on the road.

Honestly seems to be more and more these days. I find myself using the forum less. :(
