sites software?

I visit quite a few forums on the Internet, with a variety of forum software setups, about a third of them use this software and I only have issues here.

When typing in the title field or message body field I seem to get locked up quite often, just for a few seconds (I cannot type continuously) or I lose control of the cursor for a sec.

I use Windows 10, Google Chrome and have 5-8 tabs open all the time. Anyone else have this type of performance issue?

It's not the end of the world, just annoying, like a page shift/bump when a page loads.

Well, I can honestly tell you I have ZERO issues with my desktop or my laptop (prior of that thing crapping the dust), but with my tablet....well, let's just say it's an entirely different story. :54: But in my case I KNOW it's on my end. :21:

I use Win8 on my desktop, and Win10 on my laptop (with Chrome)

I have very poor internet from my provider and I find the pages here move even faster than fb pages which I have trouble opening . So far I have found the pages here relatively easy to open and reply to once I have internet working.

I have also run into those issues with both of our current tech/soltware MAC laptops when connected though ATT as the carrier. When at the family cottage and therefore a different carrier, I have not seen the the problem. It is odd, since the ATT configuration is their high-end, superduper, residential unit.

So, my guess is (more likely because I prefer blaming) ATT (the carrier) is the source of my issues.

Me, too... LATELY. Having these problems. And only on this site (my FAVORITE, dang it!). Thinking maybe my baggage was slowing me, I dumped all my thread subscriptions, private messages, and shortened my signature.
Anything new to try????

I continue to see this problem from time to time. It seems to be when the carrier and/or computer(s) are updating software in the background.

When I see it, I have been saving (COPY) whatever message /thread I am developing and Log Out, Close the search engine and shut-down the computer and restart everything.

There is a 'in the background' fight going on with 'Advertisers' wanting to 'Pop-Up' their Ads and also 'Voice-Over or Music-Over' doing the same, and your Blocker Software working at halting their efforts. It all steals lots of processor time. Add to that, most Forum Sites (this one included) because of their rapid interact format and you have a system slowdown or worst a full freeze-up!

First, double check that you are current with 'all' software from operating, to application, to blocker.

The really bad problem that all of us are faced with is that all the new software is being designed to either SmartPhones or Maxed-out Processor for your laptop. In short, if your not running a dual processor your better have lots of DRAM (RAM for us old folks).

Reality; if you're looking at a new computer, starting talking about Quad Processors and by the end of this year Dual Quad Processors (or something like that) with more than plenty of DRAM. Tech Heads - Save Me, I way out of my safe place.

FYI: When this Forum closes its day i.e. Active Threads are retired for the day. If you're working on a Post, a like problem can happen - like a linkage problem.

It may also help if you make sure your browser is completely updated, and if you use Chrome to update Flashplayer as well.

I've got the latest version of everything, it makes no difference. Slow and choppy, 60% of my posts take ten minutes to finish b/C the site locks up in the message part of the post.

Like this one did.

On my desktop chrome, I am continually getting some type of commercial audio that does not match anything on the screen! I am sure that is creating havoc!

Yup, just like I included in my earlier Post in this Thread.

(There is a 'in the background' fight going on with 'Advertisers' wanting to 'Pop-Up' their Ads and also 'Voice-Over or Music-Over' doing the same, and your Blocker Software working at halting their efforts. It all steals lots of processor time. Add to that, most Forum Sites (this one included) because of their rapid interaction format and you have a system slowdown or worst a full freeze-up!)

Sadly, the fix at this point is to buy a maxed-out Processor /DRAM combo. And of course these monsters will not be readily available until 2017:

(The really bad problem that all of us are faced with is that all the new software is being designed to either SmartPhones or Maxed-out Processor for your laptop /desk top. In short, if you're not running a dual processor your better have lots of DRAM (RAM for us old folks).

Reality; if you're looking at a new computer, starting talking about Quad Processors and by the end of this year Dual Quad Processors (or something like that) with more than plenty of DRAM.)

So, what to do between this rodeo and the next rodeo! Have someone that really knows how to 'Beach' (deep clean) a drive of all the junk from your Internet travels off (shocking how much internet junk is on your hard drive) your hard drive and hop-up your Blocker Software.

Me too! Usually a short commercial or a brief period of new-age music!

I had many of the same problems mentioned here. It got so severe my computer became almost literally impossible to use. Our computer tech friend did whatever he did to my computer to optimize it, installed the most recent version of Chrome, which also updated flash player. Freeze ups, crashes, and out of the blue audio causing crashes and lock ups stopped. 90+% problems stopped. I'm usually on the iPad anyway.

Hmmm... have you tried deleting your cookies and history? Other than that, I'd wonder if there wasn't some kind of software conflict causing the issue since updating the browser and OS fixes the issue in most other cases.

Could you tell me what kind of computer you're using (Mac or PC)? As well as OS and browser?
