Login not secure

Firefox just warned me that my login to this site is no longer secure and could be intercepted. Please advise whether this is true.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Login not secure

No problems with Firefox detected by my PC. Are you getting a red screen with warning of "Deceptive site ahead?"

Are you able to try accessing ParrotForums from other browsers? Please advise if the Firefox warning persists and I'll notify the Administrator.

Re: Login not secure

@Mods - is it because parrotforums isn't using HTTPS yet? Many browsers are choosing to warn of insecure sites if the requests are only in HTTP.

That or the forums is using an expired certificate?

Good questions, let me do some research!

While that is happening. Please ensure that your Operating System is running the most recent version! In November, the two big guys ( Microsoft and MAC ) completed serious upgrades. Right after that the big Browsers did the same. That was all followed by Microsoft Office also completing a major update. With all of those updates in place, you should not be seeing any of those screens.

Its becoming a nightmare out there.

FYI: Also as you have been logging in over at least the past six months, ParrotForums has been warning you that: "signing-in" to this site is not a "Secure Connection!" The reality is; Unlike 'Pay Sites' or 'Bank' Sites' that lock access to your accounts and is hidden behind their Walls. ParrotForums, is an interactive, open Site, which means that what you place in a Thread or Posts is fully open and available on the Web. Hence, never provide personal information on the open section of this Site.

Re: Login not secure

I was curious too about Parrotforums not using HTTPS. Most all sights that have a password login now are using it.

Not that there is any high security information here but hijacking a password login could result in unwanted posts from fake users to, possible disruption if anyone were to obtain a moderator password.

I'm sure Scott is looking into it and will have more information soon.

Thanks
Kelly, Karl, and Arika

Re: Login not secure

Yes, sites that don’t have proper security certificates get flagged by browsers as not secure. And the certificate is expensive. More worrisome are the bogus “your computer has a virus, click here” warnings. If you click, they install malware on your computer. Whenever I get one of these or a “you have won a free iPhone etc” pop up, I back out of the page without clicking anything in the box. Sometimes the box won’t let me click back button on the browser itself - it hijacks the “focus”, and I won’t click the close box inside the pop up, so I just close the whole browser.

I sent a request for information to the site administrator. Will report back with a response!

Re: Login not secure

The site is secure to my knowledge and we haven't had any issues. I will double check with our programmer just in case.

I get the notice all the time, I'm using opera now....it's just a warning. But not for nothing you're safer with mozzila or opera than Internet explorer in my opinion.
