It's taking like days to load when I click on a thread.

Is it just me?

I haven't been having any problems but wouldn't be the first time the forum hosts have had problems with load times.

First check that you have the latest version of your search engine (like Firefox, etc.).

Check that your Anti-Virus software is current.

And just for the fun of it all, all of your system and application software. During this time of year, most all of them are updating their software in the background as you are online and this will slow connects.

As a standard practice, prior to exiting your search engine, assure that you clear 'all' the history from it. They all have different names and locations, but it is very important to do this every day! I take it to a crazy level of doing it every time I exit.

Assure you do not have 'others' using your internet access. I have several near by neighbors that have 'open' WiFi, which is just nuts.

If all the above fails, Close all the way out and go through a full shutdown of your computer. After a couple of minutes come back on and see if that helps.

Now, it is possible that it can be on the Forum side as Admin does from time to time also update things and that will slow things down. The full shut-down is commonly a fast go around.

My addblocker all of a sudden decided there are such things as 'acceptable adds' (ones that leave no trackers, 3rd party coockies etc. etc.).

I do not agree with the addblocker of course because most adds today are animated and those annoy the crap out of me (autism and fast-info-overload...) but this really slowed things down page-loading-wise..

... so maybe check that as well?

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I had a bout of slow-as-molasses PF response this morning. Seems normal 8 hours later!

o f t e n t i m e s m y I n t e r n e t i s s l o w, but this morning it is fast.

One of the common causes for slow inter that is not caused by the internet itself is background uploading, like One Drive, Drop Box or other archiving service. Even your phone backing up to iCloud or Google will bring your internet to a crawl...why, because most of us who are not on fiber have a very limited upload capacity....many less than 1Mbs, Devices on your network need the upload stream to send ack's for packet transfer and if the upload stream is being used and consumed for an iCloud backup the other device gets stalled.

Another cause which is being exacerbated by all the WiFi enabled products is too many wifi devices on your local network. Theoretically you can 256 devices but in reality that number is closer to 20.

Great points, here. Another thing to consider, if you are using wifi, is the number of wifi signals currently occupying your single channel. If there are too many signals competing with each other for that channel, you might want to switch your device over to a different channel with less signals vying for the same space.

Using a Wifi Analyzer app can show you whether this is an issue in your particular case. Also, be mindful of whether you are on the 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequency, as one may be on an overloaded channel while the other might not be.

Everything working fine today.
My router has 2 different bands of freq. I tried both and both had same problem.
At the same time my TV (all streaming over internet) was working fine.

Okay. If this problem occurs again, please let us know. Hopefully it was more of an isolated incident.

I'm typing this blind. I've started getting slow responses and now that stupid xfinity spam ad pops up on every page and I cannot see and if I interact with it at all (hit the x button) it sends me to a sketchy site and I'm not about that. Typing this though it just random disappeared which it hasn't done before... has the curse lifted? Let's post and find out ><

It sounds like you may have a virus. Run a full virus scan. Also check your add blocker setting, which should be part of your anti-virus software.

With the exception of a major patch that Mac added to their newest OS that slowed my Mac for several hours as it ran in the background. Mac's current OS is Mojave 10.14.2. Note: depending on how old your Mac is this update may not be available to you.

Nope, not a virus. Only happens on this site. + only happens on my phone though I am sure it would happens on my computer too if not for my adblocker.

I’m getting a fair bit of “Bad Gateway” action here but that could just be me :)
