The Parrot Education and Adoption Center of Pittsburgh (PEAC) is very proud to present class on, "How to Train Your Companion Parrot To Participate In It's Own Veterinary Care", conducted by Cathy Schlott of the National Aviary.

Cathy Schlott is the Manager of Animal Training at the National Aviary. She has extensive experience working with a variety of bird species and has managed the indoor and outdoor bird shows at the National Aviary since 2007. This includes, "Wings!" - The Indoor Free Flight Avian Adventure, with flying eagles, owls, vultures, hawks, macaws, and more. In addition to animal training, she has a background in wildlife rehabilitation, environmental education, and biology. She is also a professional member of The Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), The International Association of Avian Trainers and Educators (IAATE), and currently serves on the board of directors for ABMA (Animal Behavior Management Alliance).

This will be a live workshop. Cathy will be bringing some of her trained birds from the National Aviary to use for demonstration purposes.
Come on out and learn personally from one of the premier people in the animal training world.

There will also be light refreshments and the opportunity to meet and socialize with PEAC volunteers, find out more about our educational programs, get information on birds in our adoption program, and learn about opportunities to become a volunteer or foster birds awaiting placement.

This class, on Saturday, May 21, from 11:00 to 1:00, will be at the Pleasant Hills Library, 302 Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. This is near the cloverleaf of Rt 51 and Lebanon Church Rd, down the road towards Pittsburgh, from Century 3 Mall. http://www.pleasanthillslibrary.org

This is a small venue session, conducted by a someone well known internationally, and accredited in the field of behaviorism, however, PEAC is able to bring it to you for a very reasonable cost. Admission is $25.00 for non-members of PEAC. Member's admission is $20.00. THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL $5.00 DISCOUNT (FOR BOTH MEMBERS AND NON-MEMBERS) IF YOU PRE-REGISTER ON LINE. If you wish to join PEAC, you can do it on line when you pre-register, or at the event and immediately receive the discount. PEAC (Pittsburgh) membership is $20.00 for an individual or $30.00 for a family, for a year.

It is strongly suggested that you pre-register for this event, to guarantee your admission and receive the discount. You can do that by visiting our website: http://www.pitpeac.org then click on the link to register.

If you wish to come to this class, which has never been presented before, and is being presented by a professional animal trainer, but have not pre-registered, come anyways and we will try to accommodate "show up" arrivals.
