picking up a bird?

I don't remember the womens name, or where I seen her videos on training birds but I do remember seeing her pick up each bird she was showing, by their beaks. And for years I thought thats how you picked them up, by sticking your finger under or in their beaks and lifting.

Has anyone else seen this, and does anyone do that? insted of having them step up, lift them up by their beaks? (I didnt know where to put this post, I hope its in the right place)

We occassionally hook our fingers under Jade's beak to pick her up but it's only when we're playing. Every other time she steps up. All 3 of our birdies will use their beaks to move around - like a extra appendage - but it isn't the norm for us to pick them up this way.

Thankyou, I know its wrong, but I view their beaks as a third limb, they can do amazing things with it, but Ive never considered picking up a bird that way until I seen that womens video, and for a vary long time Thats how I thought all parrots were picked up, until I got to hang around with people who accually had parrots, but a few of them used their beaks as "handles" too, so it was confusing.

I've seen people pick up their large birds, like macaws and cockatoos by their beaks, but never the smaller species.
