Ok so the bonding with Rio is going better. I am totally going at her pace and not even pushing her. I am using her favorite seed as motivation - she doesn't get seed in her food. This week I have taught her to turn around, and I will lay my other hand flat and say come, she already knows step up. I am very happy with her progress.

The only draw back since using the seeds is that now she isn't eating her pellets. I place 3 bowls in her cage, 1 for pellets only - she is only 4 months old so i offer 24/7, 1 for fruit/veggie mash - offered twice a day, and lastly water dish. She has no problem with her veggie mash and eats the mixture I make eagerly. I also have brown rice, quinoa, and organic veggie pasta in the mix.

So why won't she eat her pellets too? Do you think nutritionally she is getting enough? I feed Harrisons hi potency coarse, thinking about going to the fine though. With Harrisons, I don't need to add a cuttle bone or a mineral block. But if she isn't eating her pellets, not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

Achilles my blind Cockatiel, she is four years old.

a Moluccan Cockatoo that it's over 30 years old.
My bird does the same when I give her too many goodies throughout the day. If he prefers the seed and veggies over the pellets I would only offer those as training rewards and leave the pellets in the cage for him to free feed on. This usually works for my bird.

Yep that's what I am doing. How long can some pellets stay in a cage before they go bad. I don't want to waste my harrisons, I don't want to feed rancid pellets either.
