When to start serious training?

Double Yellow Headed Amazon
Hi folks! I have a 9 week old double yellow headed amazon. He's still on 2 feedings a day, and is slooooowly exploring new foods. My question has to do with recall training. I looked through the forum and couldn't find my exact question.

Basically, when should I start do to recall training? He has successfully done it a handful of times from one flight perch to the next. But in general he has zero attention span - he's just so excited that he knows how to fly that he'll launch himself into the air, do a few laps, and land any old place. He also isn't very interested in treats yet, as he's still being hand fed.

Is he too young for this? He steps up/steps off no problem. He enjoys being handled. Should I wait another month or so before trying again? I don't want to accidentally teach him to ignore any commands I give him during this phase. Know what I mean?

Any advice would be most welcome!

No, he's not too young to learn recall training!
