Binky - Cinnamon Rainbow Lorikeet
Hi! I am wanting to train my Cinnamon Rainbow Lorikeet, but I have heard that Lorikeets attention span isn't very big. So I started a thread on that topic, and someone came back with a reply of 'You should start with target training', but I have no clue as to what that is. As I am a new bird owner, I do not know much about harness training. Although Binky cannot fly, she certainly likes to hop from shoulder to shoulder, even if it is a strangers shoulder. For this reason I would like to keep her on a harness. Does anyone have any suggestions about what other techniques I could use?
Much appreciated. :)

I think you'll find Tab answered your question in the other thread! ;)
But this may make it a little clearer for you!

Target training is the best training there is, it's basicly learning your bird on how to take orders. I target trrain my parrot every week even tho he got it, i don't want him to lose that ability :)

I use targeting whenever I need my bird to move somewhere - so whereever I point my wand my bird will figure out to to get to that location and touch the tip.
